Headphone listeners

i'll let someone else reply to that who knows more about them than me, but i've tried several pairs of skullcandy(all in-ear) and they've all sounded like crap. i stopped trying to find a good set made by them when i worked up to the $60 set they had that didn't sound any better than the $12 set and i returned them and put my money towards my klipsch s4i's.

Got me a new amp:

New to me, anyway  1983-vintage Pioneer A-90, 200 watts a side and damn sweet sounding. Well worth the effort to lift the damn thing :ror:

have any of you had the Skullcandy Aviators? I've been thinking about ordering a pair but am not 100% sure on it.

No personal experience, so I won't comment on them, but look hard into V-Moda for an alternative. Maybe even Audio Technica M-50. Do some reading on Head-fi right here: Portable Headphones, Earphones and In-Ear Monitors

And possibly here: Headphones (full-size)

Wouldn't hurt to read reviews on Amazon either.

Coming off a weekend full of music with my headphones makes for hard Mondays because yes, my in ear Skullcandies sound like crap. Pretty sure that's the universal opinion about Skullcandy. Good thing they're cheap.

Nice Stu!

I'm eyeballing this thing hard:

But only 2 have made it to customers thus far so impressions are far and few. And it's not cheap. But the 2A3 tubes!! Got have em. My mono blocks I built for the stereo have 2A3s, and they're special.

I'm using digital design ones right now and I love them! You can tune them to the type of music you listen to and they just sound perfect

What's your definition of bank? :ror:

You mean in-ears, or ear buds like those that Apple throws away in the iPod boxes? :ror:

In ears I guess... I would prefer some with the comply foam tips or ones compatible with them though. Bank as in like 60 bucks at absolute most for them. If I wanted to boat more I'd just get some over ears headphones... and no apple products please.

Since I can't really tell you what you prefer, you'll have to do a little reading, but I can share with you an UNBELIEVABLE thread that can help you do that. You can go to tier 3A, which is up to $60.

Multi-IEM Review - 237 IEMs compared (AKG K3003i added 05/07/12)

I suggest taking the time to read all that, but if you don't wanna, well then alright. Scroll slowly and learn to understand his categorizing technique, as it becomes really easy once you get it.

The more reading you do, the more informed you are, the better choices you make. "thumbsup"

We all hear differently, so read as much as you can stand to get as many opinions as you can.

And I got the new Sennheiser HD 700s on the way now. I needed to fill the gap between the HD 600 and HD 800 with something, and this seemed logical. And I had to be one of the first in the world to have them, you know how that is...

late 70,s to early eighties is the golden age of home audio"thumbsup"..they built some killer stuff back then..most stuff now is rubbish..all style and no substance

More like the late 50s is the best time. Tube circuits in their prime. Single ended triode for thaaaa WIN!

You lame-o's and your silicon chips. You can have em, gimme glass.

If the first watt sucks, why make another 199?

ya tube power is something special"thumbsup"..i have a bud who works for a junk removal/recycling service and he comes across some very neat old stuff, amps and turntables..etc he just had a very cool tube radio with spare tubes, not sure how many bands but it was quite a few..maybee some sw channels..they just dont make quality stuff like that now..i have given him pointers on the good stuff to look for

Ive been wanting to build a tube amp for a long time now, just one more project to add to the pile. They are super simple to build, assuming that I could find a set of tubes AND the correct base mount to build it. I'm sure there are kits out there, I just haven't looked.

So how many pairs of headphones you have now? I just got a pair of Dr Dre headphones, I bet they are better than those soundhowsers of yours! (jk, I wouldn't buy that branded junk)
