Hera revisited

Yes, they are really firm... almost hard in the Mayhem wheel with the extra ring of weight.
I've never run such hard tires... I'm starting to think I may have to order a softer inner ring. We'll see how they do.

Today or tomorrow I'm going to switch up the gearing.
It's currently running a 13t pinion but I have an 11t and a 9t to try out... I have to check and see what spurs I have. I want a little more torque in 2nd gear!

I just picked up a Heyok winch controller from a local member. During the BWD donation, I bought a Warpig spool and Team3Six comp winch line and now that the 4ws is gone... it's time to build a servo winch!
I hope to have it working before Saturday's G6 event hosted by SCRC. "thumbsup"

Last Saturday Hera ran in a 50 gate G6 style event... it was a lot of fun!
During the first rock section, my front OD gear stripped out.

Hera was able to finish the course but it was rough and really trying my patience in the 95 degree heat. The gear would slip every time it was under any load... and the course had several rock sections so it was skipping a lot!

The gear came from my FOFF rig so I'm thinking that's the problem. It was probably chewed up some from the CC CM36 5700 and didn't stand a chance once it had to pull heavy duty work in Hera. I may need to remove some weight from the wheels.

I replaced the gear on Sunday as well as worked on a winch.

The winch is almost installed, I just need one more spacer and it should be good to go. The servo is the originol rear steer servo the got fried during Hera's first comp when the CC BEC caught fire... it should work good for winch duty: 277oz with titanium gears. "thumbsup"

Aside from the stripped gear, Hera ran good. She felt much more solid now that the rear steer is gone.
The 11t pinion has a lot more low end control and still has some wheel speed in 2nd.
I think I need some softer springs and need to relocate the rear upper links.

and the pics:
This was a pretty steep hill. I decided to try and get some full throttle one handed footage... didn't end well.

changing the lipo's half way through the course. The 14t puller is a hungry motor!

I'm happy to announce Hera is finally performing.
I had Fri off for Labor Day and started working on Hera Thursday after dinner and went straight through till 6am!

The geometry is all new.
The wb is a bit shorter, ride height a bit lower and overall weight a bit lighter.
Drilled some new rear upper link holes in the chassis (sorry Ryan!) so I could lengthen the links. They just weren't working right before.
Got rid of my beefy big bore shocks and threw on some shorter, softer scx10 shocks.
Changed out the wheels from Mayhem's 1" Double Fatty to a 1.25" wheel.
Remounted the servo winch using a Hand Bros CMS, much more beefy!

I took Hera to one of our comp spots Friday and she performed excellent!
Definitely pulling lines that she couldn't before... I'm looking forward to our next comp season.

added 2 Rogue Element snatch blocks and a R2J Pull Pall

Hera's new winch line, 3/64" stainless steel rope.
Bad Hoopty tried several sizes before settling on 3/64... I have to thank him for that!
I bought 15' and fit about 10' on the Warpig spool.
I'm glad it fit through my Rouge snatch blocks. "thumbsup"

That cable looks awesome. "thumbsup" Did you put the swage on yourself?
It's damn beefy, I like it!
Yeah, I used vice grips to smash it...

You do know I sell steel winch cable right?
I know, I tried to order it a while back and it was out of stock!
I picked up your comp line instead. ;-)

Besides, this one goes to 11... err, 270# that is!

I need to have some new rings made... the VW rings belong to Buxom Melons.
Here's what I'm thinking atm... assuming it's ok with Ryan.
