Hillbilly's garage

I got put on light duty for work after my urgent care visit yesterday. So I pretty much had a day off. Well Gateleafer start to get assembled. All mounts are on and rear is done now. I removed the stock shock towers as they were stock sendero towers and mounted funky from the P.O. used the shock keys that were on the ifs mullet. They fit great and I have adjustability with them. Also swapped in a vanquish rear brace I had from gathering parts for the VS350 build.
I had been debating wheel colors for this project on was thinking gold or orange and red. ended up with a set of red wheels I liked kinda like IFR from vanquish. Almost all the Amazon versions are ugly color combos IMO. I think I can always swap the rings out for another set of silver to change the look of them and still look great. I'll finish the front at some point. Front axle needs more work as I want to swap the c-hubs and knuckles which I have and clock the c-hubs for more steering. One of the last pictures you'll see the front hangers are just behind the nose piece of the cage.

Finally got time to wrap the aluminum panels I choose the chassic Ivan Stewart livery. The wrap is from Rouge GRFX and ment for the lexan gatekeeper panels. With that they are a great fit. Only two spots that didn't cover was the back side of the roof which I cut what was left on the wrap sheet and added it to the roof. The other place was the nose of the hood my only fix was to slap a element badge from the sheet on there. Definitely changes the look of the Gateleafer and will go with the beadlocks.

Waiting on class 1 (4.19) BFG krawlers for Gateleafer. Also picked up class 1 injora green inserts. Took it out for a spin on the test rocks and lost two shackle to leaf screws. So longer hardware and nylock nuts are required. The steering servo that came with Gateleafer sucks. I'll rob the servo out of the LCG fj45. Which Im thinking about taking the outrunner and ESC out to if I put a flat skid and cheap 2low in Gateleafer.

And on to my thoughts about the FJ45 pickup. It was fun to build, only dove it once, has wanted to drive it like the rest. Been debating on swapping the body to sleeper ascent.

I did pickup some rock lights for Sami the Bushido cause it needed them 🤷

Well I ordered some Phoenix inner fenders for project VS350 and well after cutting the back side of them to fit around the battery tray I made. Then after fitting the cab I realized I would have to chop them up more so I gave up. Lol

Well then this happened I body swapped sleeper ascent. I had to raise the sliders About 7.5mm. after removing the old bed I fit up the rear bumper from an ascent I had laying around. Swapped over the rear body mount from the LCG fj45. The front wasn't going to work well on this chassis. So I just raised the sleepers front mount and removed the body screw. Used some 3m dual lock Velcro cause it was the perfect height I needed. Normal Velcro wasn't thick enough. I'm swapping the jcon tusks after I change inserts. Funny cause when I first started building this truck the wheels and tusks were meant to go on it.

That FJ is so awesome! I need to get a faster 3D printer just for that. And I still love how you painted the tailgate red. Reminds me of some houses that have contrasting red doors which I love. That carbon fiber chassis is an Ascent?

No chassis is a clone G-speed chassis I found on Amazon a while back. I called the truck sleeper ascent cause the cab and front bumper were stock ascent parts Lol. Thought it was a fitting name.

I really love the body too that's why I couldn't let it just sit on the shelf. I had to put it on a truck I enjoy driving. The other rig will be used either for parts or I'll find something else to build with it.

I drove the FJ today after I swapped the tusks over with alphabet named company green inserts. They are wider than injora just a tad smaller. It did great on my backyard test rocks. Very stable with the hard body. Can't wait to take it out on some good rocks

Do you mind sharing a link to the chassis?

And which "alphabet named company" :ROFLMAO: green inserts are you using now? Wondering about these inserts more for my dad than me.

4.19s finally installed and test drove then burnt out the servo that came with it. It wasn't very strong anyways. Stole the flash hobby 45kg out of the old fj45 LCG chassis. Then noticed why it wasn't steering left well. The servo horn was hitting the chassis. Trimmed back the horn. Now it gets full throw. Definitely need to take it out on my next outing.

Your Optic looks lifted, but I'm curious if you're going to like it on 4.19's. I have the 4.9" Proline Trepador tires on mine and the H10 is still one of the worst belly-draggers I've ever owned.
