Does anyone have any info on the Holmes BLS SHV500 12 volt steering servo. Everywhere I look they are on backorder and my local crawling track says the have been recalled due to a defective design. I would really like to buy one of these because they can run off of 3s battery.

They had Firmware issues. Will be back soon i think. The new hv500 V2 inofficially can take also 3s.

Well hopefully you have "v2" tacked on the end of the SHV500V2 model since the first run isn't sold any more. However I think the v2 run has also been sold out for a while and new batches sporadically appear, so you'll have to get some links and keep checking them if you really want one.
I have one in my Wraith, so far so good. I had the old V1 version and broke 3-4 of the center pins which were its week spot. the V2 version has beefed up this center pin. I would be curious if there really is a firmware issue, I think its just out of stock because its new. Oh and it can do 4S too (the SHV)

Yea I had an older servo and the center pin broke first run out...
they replaced it with a shv500 which has been good
Also on the trx-4 you can plug the power plug right into the extra plug on the esc! Plug and play servo!!!
