Ok having problems with hobbywing 1060 brushed esc on my kyosho rampage pro.

Initial bench test with wheels up it had no reverse, even with jumper set correctly.
Other jumper settings made it accelerate at max throttle even with the slightest touch of the transmitter trigger.

Some googling suggested I had motor wires backwards so I swapped on the motor and same problem just backwards now.
This time a *tiny* puff of smoke from my motor. Hope I didn't fry it?!!? (I unplugged the 2s battery immediately)

I hope this is something I am overlooking. Tried to RTFM but didnt get much from that.

Help and thanks!

*update... Might have fried the esc with a motor thats too hot.
13 turns? Should be able to handle that no?
Tiny puff of smoke from esc this time trying different jumper settings.
I think I need to try a less aggressive motor, if this poor 1060 isnt already toast :(

As long as the puff came from the motor, ESC should be fine.

Looks like you're having some auto-calibration issues.
Sometimes Hobbywing ESC require to reverse throttle channel on the radio (and so the motor wires then) for the auto-calibration to work. Also be sure to set the throttle trim is set to zero on the radio.

Done and done.

Gonna try a less aggressive motor later tonight.
I have an old associated 19turn that I can try.

There was a tiny poof from esc. Hope its not toast but these are cheap enough so I wouldnt be too bummed.

Wired up my 19t associated last night.

No smoke this time but STILL NO REVERSE???
I dont get it. No matter what jumper setting I select there is no reverse at all.
My next step is resetting my transmitter to factory defaults, just incase something weird going on there.

Nobody else having this problem with 1060?

Cant remember if I got it from RPP or Amazon... Red heatsink.

I mean it runs so I can drive the truck until a replacement comes. Thanks for replies.
Now to paint the body...
