i have a yeti XL using 2x 2s lipos with a xerun 150a ESC. i was reading the tech page for the esc and it says to " (When using 2S lipo or 6 cells NiMH, an UBEC or seperate battery is strongly recommended to supply the receiver, please get more information at Note #1 below) "

note#1:

" 1 An UBEC is strongly recommend to power the receiver.
2 The built-in BEC in the XERUN-150A-SD ESC MUST be disconnected. Please read the following tips for reference. "

i just got a castle creations bec but that is connected to the servo. do i need another one for the esc power? or is this the same thing they are talking about?

thanks

On 2s that ESC has trouble providing enough voltage to all the components. It may be amperage, I haven't done the research.
Regardless, you'll notice if its not working correctly. As the ESC will shut down.
I ran 2-2s batts in parallel with no issues. And dual servos.
But I was bashing my emaxx at the time. Not heavy duty crawling.

You could wire the bec to the receiver and remove the red plug from the ESC, to eliminate all issues.
Just adjust voltage according to your receiver limits / servo limits. Whichever is lower.
