Hi all, I’m running a Mamba Max Pro and revolver v2 normal size 1800kv in my Element kit with an 18t pinion. The startup is a little jumpy and low speed control is jumpy. Feels like a light switch with the motor either providing power or not right off idle. I’ve purchased a 14t to try and slow things down and I’ve adjusted the throttle curve in castle link to try to smooth things out.

I really like the novelty of the motor, is there anything else I can do to make it crawl and cruise at sloooow speeds smoother? Perhaps step over to a sidewinder 4?

Thanks!!

18t pinion is very high for a crawler. i try to stick between 10t to 15t

Although your answer may be right in this case, to say "18t pinion is very high for a crawler" is incorrect. There are so many variables for correct gearing out there depending on what brand you are running. Just saying your statement is to generic and may mislead someone else new to the hobby. "thumbsup"

My Revolver was the same way. I never could get it to go smoothly nor could I eliminate the cogging so I sold it. I believe mine was a v1 though. All of the other Holmes motors have been excellent for me.

You’re issue is the MMP. JRH has told us to use the MMX or SW4.
The MMP is the base for Holmes BLE, and sadly is past it’s prime.
I still run my MMP and BLE with PullerPro’s and a long flat curve. No chatter, cogging just smooth creep unless I need to spin the tires.

I initially tried my revolver with a mmp and it was as you describe. I switched to the sw4 and its smooth as butter. Totally an esc issue.

The Element runs a 48P spur and pinion. An 18T pinion and 78T spur is equivalent to a 13T pinion with a 56T spur gear.
thanks for this info. i dont have an element so i didnt know that. i shouldve read the original post more closely before commenting but i just wanted to try to help in any way i could as i dont have a revolver. it looks as though the MMP is the problem now though thanks to other comments.
