Finished today and already looks like she's been around the mountain a few times... Still have a lot to do to her but the majority of the work is done..

Needs some aging to the body! My first attempt at rust was laid on her last night and I must say I think it looks ok.. But.. I may have gone a bit overboard on the rockers.

I plan to keep this thread going as a chronicle of sorts.. Just to show everyone what parts break first on my new favorite rig! lol

Thanks Guys!

A few pics of the set up so far. I'm very surprised how much fun the cc01 is... I read alot in the previous months about guys hating it due to the lack of capability , but I consider that to be the most scale thing about it. I couldnt do half the stuff in a 1:1 rig that I can do with my SCX.. but with the CC01 it seems to struggle getting up GIANT rocks and gets hung up on roots. THATS SCALE!

Some shots from yesterday... This thing is FUN! Broke the front upper suspension arm and the steering seems to be Crap after yesterday.. So I ordered some aluminum uppers and the GPM kit for the steering.. Trying to thing of a way to cleanly shave off the fender flares.. ANY IDEAS?

It had to have been a manufacturing issue.. It literally just broke in half like an icicle . It just took a small tumble.. She'll be back on the trail soon.. been workin on my honcho in the meantime and man the honcho rocks with 2.2 boss claws!

So you've broke an upper arm and an aluminum steering post? Good lord man! I've broke a lot of parts on my CC/XC's over the years, but never the upper arm! :) How did that happen?

Great looking jeep BTW

Jeep looks great! Is there a video of it in action?

If you haven't found a way yet to trim your fenders, what works well is taping them off with masking tape to the level you want and then using sewing thread like a hacksaw to cut through. It actually works a lot better than you might think and gives you plenty of control at the pace you must go.

Here is a video showing the method:
