House's Generic Ti-Fighter

No problem! I have enjoyed watching your build take shape. Looks real good. Ty

I whipped up a nice skid/battery tray tonight out of some .040 lexan.
Probably a little overkill for stoutness, but the hardest part of making
a new one would be removing the servo tape off of the motor and servo... lol

This is how I did mine. I have only used velcro to hold my battery and have never had it fall out yet. Never mind the steering it is just temporary. Hope this helps. Ty

Hey chris it dont matter how long it takes ya to build it you always build nice shit.... I guess I had better knock the dust off mine and get it ready been shopping for a new chassis....

Sorry to let you down guys, been working on my new house...!
I think I finally got it squared away for the next couple of weeks,
so hopefully I have time to work on this thing a bit more!
Trust me, it has been killing me walking by it on my way to bed
every night at midnight with no progress... LOL

I can bring a box of parts for you to look at... LOL
I haven't had a chance to do any more machining lately, as my little lathe
is packed up to move. I think I need to take some material off of the 3rd
gear shaft to fit in the housing better, as it does not want to turn freely...

Thanks for the offer, I appreciate it. I am planning on moving a little bit at a time, but right
now we have been doing a LOT of work to it before we move in, because I know it will NEVER
get done once all my shit is in there... LOL I feel like I need a build thread for my house, it
is pretty exciting. Maybe when I get to the R/C Car room I will... :)

And your TiFi...?

Geez, can't believe it's been 2.5 years since I have worked on this thing...
This is basically how it still sits, but the front axle is torn apart.
I started trying to figure out what the problem was, but never narrowed it down.
At first I thought it was a 3rd gear length issue, so I chucked it up in the lathe
and took a few thou off of it to no avail. It almost seems like maybe one of
the bearing recesses on one case half is out of alignment, but that is pretty
hard to check without a print and a CMM. Maybe Mr. Gcode can chime in,
but I already tried getting one from SDS and he does not have one
unfortunately. Another thought is a gear problem. I never got to the point
of swapping gears around, and at the time stock Berg gears were the only
ones available. Now that I have a few baggies of RCBros gears laying
around I will give that a shot too. Anyway, sorry to drop the ball on the
build, but I will get back on it now... :)

I had 3rd gear problems with mine too. The overall length was half of the problem. The other was the size of the radius leading to the teeth on both sides of the teeth. I couldn't even get my cases to close all the way without turning the 3rds. They are SDS 3rds too. Ty

Just so you boys know, I know for a fact a bad batch of 300 thirds got shipped with off center pin holes drilled. Makes the gear wobble a good amount. Hopefully that helps!
