How to remove a screw that is stuck in a Bruiser frame because of Thread lock?

The question is in the title, it's blue threadlock apparently, I tried to heat the screw but it doesn't come out. I also don't want to try too hard for now since I'm scared of stripping the screw's head.

Thanks in advance.

Gilles

to try before drilling it out

You'd post if the screw is rusted in, how long has it been sitting...and if the head still has good grip.

Anyway it is a common problem,
I like to apply some oil to the sides and possibly from underneath as well, let it "soak in" a bit. Then (if it is rusted in or been long time in that place) give it a slight but powerful twist into the tighten direction. Like that you can brake it away if it has started to developed some rust toward the threading/around the head. Usually the head is worn out a bit towards the untighten direction but breaking it loose into the other direction still might help.

Then use the biggest screwdriver that fits (vice versa, one that is unnecessarily small works towards grinding the header) and apply some axial pressure and untighten.

Stop immediately if it doesn't pick the head, retry the procedure. Now that was the nice and easy try, the other time consuming method is to drill it out, usually a drill a bit smaller then the bolt/thread will do weaking it enough. Takes quite some time ...

Please use new screws then, chances are it will only be worse the next time if you reuse them,

if you strip it you can cut a line in the head and use a flat blade screw driver. or just cut the screw off.

everytime i buy an OG Bruiser frame theres always the typical Tamiya Blue threadlock on the screws, its like cement on the old screws.

i take my lighter and heat up the threadlock and the screw tends to back out easy. if that doesnt work i hit it with the Map gas and it burns it off.

Hi Gilles,

One thing that has worked for me in the past with Blue loctite is to put the tip of a soldering iron on the screw head and wait till the loctite melts, then while hot try unscrewing.

hope this helps!

regards

Tim

If you do end up having to drill, they make left handed drill bits(no I'm not kidding)! When you drill through the head it will relieve the tension, and when it catches in the screw,it unscrews with the drill."thumbsup"

Will try the drill since I was not able to melt the loctite with a lighter.
Don't know if I can find the lefthanded drill where I live.

Thanks for all the help
