Hybrid R1 Rock Bouncer

I got the ax10 skid today and disassembled the entire thing. Upon reassembly I decided to swap the spur out. Dropped down from an 87 to an 80 tooth and raised the pinion to a 28 tooth. The 550 can has enough ass to push it and does it well actually. I was surprised. It appeared as fast with the gear change as it did on 3s.

Now I need to fab up some new links, put some body panels on it, and bash it.

I spent an hour and a half last night figuring out some new links for this thing. I'm still not happy with how things landed out. I'll need to try again when I haven't had as much Makers in me. Took it for a small spin this morning again and it was fine. Just not much suspension travel without making contact between the driveshafts and links. The AR60's OCP is causing some issues and with these lesser quality Honcho shafts I can't flip the tranny/skid because it will want to bind. My next option is to try to fad a skid or maybe shorten the Wraith skid to fit the chassis.

I've still got the Bomber. I've only got about $18 tied up in this R1 bouncer attempt with the cage and AX skid. I've order a Wraith cage and will swap everything over to it.

So you're saying to mount the Bomber shocks out on the axle and do away with the geometry of the trailing arm mounts? I had considered it already but decided it'd just be a Wraith in a different chassis.

I've moved these axles to a Wraith. This project isn't dead yet, though. I scored another set of ar60s and will try to fab a wide center skid to allow room for the driveshafts to clear the links. I have a Thunder Tiger tranny to use. It's built like a scx10 but with a Yeti/Bomber style cam motor mount.

My new to me axles showed up today. They're a little rough...a lot rough. One has a couple of brass bushings instead of bearings, a little play in the shafts, and has seen some...a lot of rocks. It's doable though. I've got a sack of bearings and will inspect the axles tomorrow to see what shape the gears are in.

I've been eyeballing my scx10 rails and Honcho body the last couple of days when working on the Wraith. These axles may resurrect the Wroncho and not this Hybrid bouncer just yet.
