Just got my charger and battery in, read the instructions several times, hooked everything up and the battery is not being detected. I am using the JST XH adapter and the 3s slot, and the main 12 ga connections are tightly and securely fit into the charger.

Anyone ever see this happen? What else should i try?

thanks.

Did you add your own connectors? If so, check your soldering.

Try charging it at a lower amperage. Is this a brand new battery?

yes, i added my own connectors, they are the solderless crimped type. They are very secure and tight, i am getting a 7 V reading of the battery on my multimeter, which makes me wonder why the voltage is so low on a 3s pack. I will try the lower amperage and see what happens...

Just tried lowering the amperage and still no battery detected :(

I think you are going to need a different balancing board for that charger. The Hyperion taps differ from the JST taps. I could be wrong.

The charger came with 2 different balancing boards, the JST XH is the one i am using and according the the various sites that sell the Turnigy it uses the XH taps. Not sure if this is an issue or not, but everything appears to be properly connnected...

That charger takes that balance tap. I own the same charger and many, many zippies (same tap as turnigies).

Try charging it w/o hooking up the balancer (it's safe to do).

I doubt your issue has to do with the balancer. I bet it's the solderless connectors. I tried those long time ago on an old speed gems, and they sucked. Even though they seem tight, they still aren't the best for current flow.

Buy a 45w solder iron from sears, 60/40 solder and some flux paste. Get a good secure soldered connection on that battery.

i will try the soldering...i soldered all of my connections on the Motor and ESC, but thought it would be convenient to have quick disconnects to swap out the battery. Jsut to make sure i understand, are you suggesting to hard wire the battery in the buggy and just charge it while attached or are you saying solder on the "solderless" connectors on the end?

thanks.

i think an obvious question is..is the batt pooched..no lipo charger will charge a 3s pack if its only got 7v in it..usually a default setting of 2.8-3v per cell..might very well read ..no batt recognized..multimeters are usually quite accurate..i have a strong feeling the batt is toast..it should of shipped with a half charge..somewhere in the 10-11v range..DONT try to run this battery if its only got 7v in it..thats way below cuttoff and it could light up..with lipos you dont want to discharge below 3v per cell ..i would contact the seller..man i wouldnt even trust mailing it back

that is kinda what i was thinking, but i wasn't sure at what voltage point the charger would work. i even tried 2s to see if it found the battery, but no go...brand new battery (supposedly...it didn't look used)

ya thats a bummer for sure..i added to my post..warning not to use this pack..i would contact the seller..sometimes that happens with the cheaper packs..occasionally the good ones too

Solder the battery connector to the battery wires.

Get a new Deans plug and give it a go. And yes, 7V is way low for a 3s... One cell could be bad.

I love love cheap lipos. My Flightmax's run as good as any of my high priced lipos (as good as hyperion g3s) in my truggy. BUT... Every now and then Hobbyking will ship out a bad battery. It's the law of averages, and their customer support is very little to none...

Well, i guess i am in the market for another battery...i might try the Flightmax's...what connector do they come with? Anyone else have battery recommendations?
