boo to the postoffice

They suck for sure. I sold a truck and mailed it to the new owner in New York. He pm'd me yesterday to say it hasnt arrived yet. Checked Delivery Confirmation number and the damn thing is in Florida on the day its scheduled for delivery. I live in Missouri, theres no route that can take you from here to New York by way of Florida without going in the wrong direction.

Just a few things Ive learned dealing with the USPS. The number you pay extra to receive is called Delivery Confirmation. Which is what the name suggests. Its not actually supposed to be a Tracking Number. This is as it was explained by a postal worker.
Also remember that Priority Mail and Parcel Post might tell you that the package will arrive in only a few days. But its not an actual GUARANTEE of arrival time, more of a suggestion/hint. They still have freedom to take several weeks to deliver your item. Again, straight from the postal workers mouth.

Oh and dont send anything USPS thats worth a squat without putting insurance on it.

Are you guys talking about an express shipping number or a delivery comp number?

That is one of the BIGGEST things I deal with being a an online retailer. People want things shipped as inexpensively and possible (UPSP Priority is dirt cheap compared to UPS or Fed-EX) but want verification. As a shipper we put Delivery Confirmation on packages for our protection but people try to use DC# is a tracking number which it is not.

A DC# is only good for "tracking" about 25% of the time because that is not what is is intended to do. If on the other hand you are using Express mail with a tracking number and it does not show up on time, you get the shipping charges refunded.

I have never had a USPS problem and IMO we'd be in deep shit if our system was just Fed-X or UPS now that would really suck, they'd raise the rates to the sky. Besides the USPS is faster and cheaper than either FED-X or UPS.
Yep, you just have to ask yourself if you'd rather have cheaper rates and crappy customer service or pay a bit more and get better CS.

BTW, I just spoke to my UPS guy on his personal cell and he came back (after he made an attempt earlier in the day) to deliver a package that needed a signature! It doesn't get much better than that!"thumbsup"

Just so you guys know, I am not a big fan of the USPS. I live 5 miles outside of a tiny town (way less then 100 people) that has a Post Office in it that is so back woods that they cannot print shipping in the building, everything gets stamps. They are also only open about 4 hours a day during the week and an hour on Saturday. They are so cocked up that they had NO idea what a flat rate box was, Delivery Confirmation is, or any idea on how to ship internationally before I moved to town. When I asked for a customs form that gal behind the counter looked puzzled as hell, turned around to a dusty rack of USPS labels, grabbed a Priority label that looked like it was from the 80's and asked me...

"You mean this?"

I said no politely and told her I would ship that package later. She informed me that the local Post Master would be in on Monday for an hour so it would be best to come back then to ship the package.

I chuckled and drove 25 miles to the next larger town and shipped it from there.

Did you give him milk and cookies:lmao:

I agree the USPS sucks. They left my package at my door and someone else took it before I got home. The carrier pretty much laughed in my face and said its not her fault. But tge sender is taking care of it.

The USPS is great! I agree that it's not that way all the time though, but it would really suck to not have their shipping services available. "thumbsup"

USPS, UPS and Fedex all leave packages at my front door. I dont think any of them cover packages getting stolen from the your door, do they?
