Ideal Gear Ratio

I have looked around, and can't seem to get a definative answer to:

What is the ideal crawl ratio for a 2.2 rig when only looking at the pinion, spur, and tranny gears?

You will not get a definitive answer because it's a matter of opinion and influenced by driving style, vehicle weight, motor, esc, terrain, tires. etc.

All we can really do is tell you what we run and you can form your own opinion. "thumbsup"

I'm running a 96 spur/15 pinion with a 55t motor, Mamba Max, Moabs, stock WK tranny and my rig weighs in around 8 lbs. It has just enough wheelspeed to get me out of jams and with the gearing, motor & ESC combo I can creep with the best of them.

Its all personal preference. I like my trucks to have some wheel speed because if I don't make it up the first 2-3 times I'm just going to give it hell and see if I can make it, most the time I do make it.

I agree. All these things will determine your ideal gearing. Gears are pretty cheap, the best thing to do is buy a couple different spurs and pinions, and try a bunch of different combos. I use a 96/15 with a 55T Integy motor, stock electronics, Losi Rock Claws, and my rig weighs about 7 pounds.

I think most guys out here that have a "weekend warrior" type rig want a bit of wheel speed to go along with their low speed crawling. I find that this combo does a great job - low speed control for finesse, and then it still has good wheel speed for those times when finesse just won't cut it (when in doubt, just hammer it and hope for the best!)

good luck!
