so i have the imax b6 charger to charge my lipo batteries. it works great but i have a problem.

i have a 8000 mah lipo battery but the charger has a capacity limit of 5000mah
so when the battery reaches 5000 mah it stops charging.

is there any way to change this setting so i can fully charge the battery?

i have searched google and the owners manual with no luck

5000mah is the charge rate. So 5 amps. If it does in fact stop after pumping out 5000mah press start again to fully charge it. The charger as far as I know has peak detection so it won't overcharge aslong as all your other settings are correct.
I have a triton EQ with a 5amp max charge rate (5000mah) and have no problems charging larger packs

+1, some chargers have a "charge time out", usually 120 minutes (2 hours). Because you have a large battery, you are hitting the timeout, NOT a capacity limit.
Just start the charge again to finish.

I have the B6 ultimate charger, but from the manual the B6 setup options appear to be identical. From the setup menu you can turn on and off the safety timer and capacity along with adjusting their setpoints.

The image below are the menus in which these options can be adjusted.
