iPhone VS Driod

While open development is good, do you know the actual Apple process? Their goal is to help make sure all apps are to their customers high expectations.

Remember there is a reason Apples customer service is so high in both phone, mp3 players, and computers. They quality control the programs, where open development does not.

Wait so you have to immediately buy a case to fix Motorola's design flaw? And your worry is the iPhone being slick. Buy a case, its mandatory on the Motorola Droid, but not mandatory on the iPhone.

iTunes will import many file formats not just their own native one. I've imported over 40GB into my iTunes account from before I had an ipod/iphone most of which are mp3's. They still remain as MP3's on the PC, they are not specially converted.

What about 3G speed? Verizon is one of the slower networks (this is beyond Droid vs. iPhone, this is a network issue). Verizon has the slowest of the major carriers proven time after time by the gadget magazines.

I will say those "maps" that VZW is showing must be wrong. In spots they claim AT&T has no coverage for 3G I did. This includes Reno, Donner Ski Ranch, and Omaha. All crawler events and all spots claimed to be not 3G yet my phone was in 3G mode.

I do have 1 complaint... the sound volume button is "smart" so if your app isnt making noise it adjusts the ringer volume. Im always accidently turning down my ringer.

Damn Iphone Fanboys need to check out those videos! LOL!!

I've never had problems with verizon, yes, some people probably have. But you have to remember that some people would have problems with EVERY carrier out there on the market, not just one. Each company has its own claim to fame. hell, ATT didn't have coverage in my area until this summer. AT ALL!!. They told me that if I bought an Iphone that they would monitor my Home Roaming and if I was in a Roaming state more than 30% of the time that they would inactivate my account and refund my money!!! This would all be done without my knowing!! ATT would have really pissed me off if they had done that.

As far as the Battery back issue with the Droid, Seriously..... I have a case on my phone, I did it for protection, no other reason. Yes, the battery back does come off the phone easier on the droid than some other phones but there are lots of little ways to keep that from happening.

The software issues that the Droid had were fixed via the update on the 9th of December.

I personally never noticed any issues with the phone and I certainly am a cynic when it comes to the latest and greatest things, but with the fact that you are LOCKED into a Iphone agreement and you cannot change it even if you get rid of the iphone, it didn't settle well with me.

With Verizon, you can change your plan at ANY time at no cost or no re-upping your contract. I change my plan ALL the time to accommodate extra usage if necessary.

I've dealt with Sprint, Att, Centennial, and T-mobile.

All of those companies couldn't hold a candle to my verizon service. Plus my work offers significant discounts on my service so its definitely more cost effective for me.

Oh, and Droid has Widgets! Super cool apps running on your home screen and not using extra power. I have a cool weather widget like on the HTC phones that runs on my home screen. Works great, also have a live sports ticker app that runs on my HS. Iphone cant do that!"thumbsup"

I have had Verizon for the last 7 years never any problems. I would get the Droid if I had the extra money that thing looks sweet! I currently have the Dare, for no other reason I don't have the extra cash for other stuff you have to have for the PDA's or I would have the Droid.

I got a the htc droid eris a couple weeks ago, love the phone so far! Plus it was only $99 after mail in rebate.

From what I have seen, Verizon has the best coverage. I have been to several places that nobody had coverage (ECC being one of them) and I had full signal.

I believe RCC live is usually on the verizon network also.

It's hit & miss on coverage. Around here, there's some parts that Verizon has coverage where AT&T doesn't, and vice-versa. Honestly, all other factors aside, I'd find out which company offers the better coverage in your particular area and go with them.

Dont confuse the HTC Eris Android phone with the Motorola Droid, Two totally different phones. Same operating system but two different manufacturers, The Motorola Droid is the one we are talking about here. The Eris is also a GREAT phone but does not have the functionality that the "Droid" has

i friend of mine recently got a new droid and i had the opportunity to check it out last weekend. best way i know how to describe it is verizon made a good attempt, but it just doesnt compare to the iPhone. the internet wasnt as fast and the touch screen just felt lazy...like it was struggling to keep up. anyone that knows how silky smooth the touch screen is on an iPhone knows what im talking about. the screen was also smaller on the droid....which i didnt like. i have yet to see a phone impress me like the iPhone (still) does.

as for the coverage....verizon wins that battle in my area hands down.

WOW!!! Didn't think I'd get this kind of feedback, you guys ROCK!!! "thumbsup"

As far as Starbucks goes, LOVE THEIR COFFEE!!!!
Two reasons their coffee is more expensive:
1. They don't buy from the corp. mega-farms.
2. Every employee gets medical coverage.

Hey guys, being in the buisness of selling phones ( I am an authorized dealer for verizon) I thought I would weigh in here and clear up a few things.
First, let's not kid ourselves here. The only reason the iphone gets half of the sales it does is because its made by apple. It does nothing special, nothing that other phones haven't done before. BB, palm, and windows devices all did the app thing before. Ever here of OTA downloads. So the iphone has a touch screen... and... so did the treo. Is it a decent device, sure. But nothing has sold that phone as well as its marketing has. Let's go over a few of the iphone issues. I can't have insurance on my phone. I can't remove my memory card, I can't remove my battery. I must have built in wifi as its the only way of reliably surfing the net. I use so much bandwidth by surfing via 3G that I slow down the whole network. I am involved in several lawsuits. I will not allow you to build apps, I have the biggest app market filled with mostly identical apps. I rarely get updates, I am not customizable unless changing your wallpaper and icon arrangements is your idea of customization. I lag, slow down, and shut down regularly. I have a horrible unstable os, my browser will lock up and shut down the whole phone. And to top it all off, my sound quality is worse than some free phones.
Now, let's examine some droid facts. (That's the moto droid).
I seemlessly intergrate with all of your email, exchange, outlook and enterprise accounts, and even sort your calanders, and contacts for you. I intergrate perfectly with all of your social networking sites. I will even email your friends and family reminders about any event you want. I never need to be connected to a computer. My os is widely supported and is already receiving updates to make me even better. My market is driven by my users, if they love it, it stays and if they don't, it goes. I am open source. I browse the internet like it was meant to be viewed because I am faster and I have the biggest screen with the highest resolution. I have dual proccessors, one for my phone and one for my apps. I have the fastes growing app market in the industry, I take videos at 24fps which is exactly what real movies are shot at. I have a real glass screen. I am multitouch capable and if it weren't for apple suing me I would have done it out of the box. I have a full sized physical keyboard, 5 megapixel dvd quality camera. You can remove my battery and my memory card. And I am ready for a 32gb card the moment they arrive. My sound quality is the best in the buisness. I can run over 100 apps simulaniously without slowing down, and best of all, you get more hardware for your money because my os doesn't cost one penny, its totally free.

I have ran an iphone 3gs and a droid side by side and there is just no comparison. Anyone that says otherwise is one of those apple nuts that gets there feelings hurt. Ther is absoluletly nothing an iphone can do that a droid doesn't do better and faster, while there is a whole long list of things an iphone just will not and cannot do.

If you really want to know just how awful of a device the iphone is, look no further than at&t. Most of there employees hate the device and refuse to use it.

Please, don't believe me, I only sell droids to at&t employees all day long.

Btw, I typed this whole thing out on my droid...

Just to save in further confusion, its not the same os. The eris is running 1.5 and the moto is 2.0

Same here, all of my posts so far have been made on my Droid also!

He really hit the nail on the head, all the facts are there. One of my buddies just left verizon as he was out of contract and wanted an Iphone, 2 days later he dropped ATT and came back to verizon to get a Droid, mainly because he crashed his Iphone 3 times on the first day and he said the browser was slower than his dialup at home!!! My Droid side by side with his Iphone SMOKED the Iphone on internet speeds, we basically raced to load a website and I was done browsing and started to look up another site while his was still loading the first one!

I was not impressed, neither was he. He now has a Droid.

Gotcha! Guess I meant to say that they are both running Android OS, not the same versions though. Far as I know, moto Droid is the only one running 2.0 right??

Oh, and the issue with the battery cover is all user error. The droid has a metal battery door, and lots of people are bending the metal tabs that lock the door in place. Simply straightening them out fixes the problem 100% of the time.

As for the other problems with the phone, again... user error. I had one guy bring one back complaining of poor performance only to see that he had over 1200 apss installed and 800 running. If you find a full size pc that will do that, let me know.

The only other complaints that I have gotten were poor battery life, and slow camera operation. Both of which were fixed with the new os update (2.0.1). Tho the battery can still be drained quickly when using the gps, bluetooth and surfing the net (fastes I have been able to kill mine was 4 hours. Tons of downloads, while navigating and watching a movie).

I dont agree with that...I bought my iphone after trying a buddy of mines....it worked and ran sooo smoothly I had to pick one up.

apple does have great marketing...but people buy and run iphone because it works! and works great!8)"thumbsup"

Oh, forgot to add that I can check my emails and sent SMS while typing this sentence, and check my weather alerts and facebook updates all simulataneously while still able to pick up right where I left off
Seems more like the Iphone is more like the Icantphone,

Maybe you missed where I said half of. Not to stir the feathers of the iphanboyz out there. Occasionally someone will run an iphone, miss all the advertisements and buy one based on using someone elses. The facts are still there and when you can use a keyboard to type, check your emails send messages and listen to your music while bowsing the net let me know. And when you can remove your battery let me know. As a matter of fact, when your phone gets a system update let the rest of the world know. The iphone locks up more often than windows.

Please, don't take my word for it let's put it to the test. You list 10 things your iphone does and I'll honestly tell you if the droid does. If anyone can name 3 things an iphone can do a droid can't then I'll conceed. However facts be what they are and the facts are that there is only one thing an iphone can do that a droid can't, and its only because apple sued moto over incorperating multitouch on the droid and instead of delaying the release of the droid, they just locked it out in the os for a bit until their lawsuit could be won. Htc already won theirs, and its only a matter of time now until moto does.

I think if we are all honest with each other we can agree that the iphone is a good device, but the droid is the hands down winner.

Not to mention, lucas effin films helped design the thing for christ sake... george lucas... star wars.... ehhhh, who's ever heard of that guy

I have never run a driod or even seen one in person....but when ever any phone company says they have an iphone killer it ends up not being even close:-(...I hope the driod DOES work as well as the verizon sales man says. apple needs the competition...lol...I might even try one if they keep getting great reveiws"thumbsup"
cheers
