iPhone VS Driod

Regardless, the BB Storm 2, iphone, and the Droid all do more that I ever thought a phone could or would do. Now if the networks(all of them) could only get up to the speed of the Japanese.

And just to be cool, I typed this from my Storm 2.:-P

Oh, just thought id point it out but thr Droid can do multitouch! There is a camera app that just came out that allows "pinch zoom"! Forgot what its called but do a searxh on droid forums!

HA! Droid still CAN!

However facts be what they are and the facts are that there is only one thing an iphone can do that a droid can't, and its only because apple sued moto over incorperating multitouch on the droid and instead of delaying the release of the droid, they just locked it out in the os for a bit until their lawsuit could be won. Htc already won theirs, and its only a matter of time now until moto does. guy

Ahh, might want to read this then! LOL! Looks like Droid CAN!!!!

http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...droid-does-include-multitouch-pinch-zoom.html

First, let's not kid ourselves here. The only reason the iphone gets half of the sales it does is because its made by apple.

Lets be straight up honest then, the reason a lot of people don't buy the Droid is Motorola makes it. Their previous phones have had issues and most were software (RAZR, KRAZR, Q)...back when updates weren't easy to get on some carriers.

It does nothing special, nothing that other phones haven't done before.

It's still the only phone capable of talking on the phone while using other apps.

I can't have insurance on my phone.

Sure you can, State Farm, Square Trade both offer it.

I can't remove my memory card

Why would I need to? I can email or connect to the PC to move files.

I can't remove my battery.

I replaced my boss's...it's not easily removable but its not hard to do "when needed". Why do you need to remove a battery unless to replace it?

I must have built in wifi as its the only way of reliably surfing the net.

Typical coming from a VZW worker...your view is jaded. My 3G is faster than my friends BB on VZW and faster than my sisters Droid (this is just in my local area, obviously). I use the wifi often, but the 3G isn't terrible.

I am involved in several lawsuits.

Visual Voice mail lawsuit on many phones now, including the Droid. I don't see how this effects a phone. Unless they lose...Apple is not worried.

I will not allow you to build apps, I have the biggest app market filled with mostly identical apps.

This is untrue. Anyone with a MAC can build apps. Sure Apple has an approval process, but as I mentioned it is to help the iPhone customers have good apps. They do not let in buggy apps...Google's Android does; ask some people about the older G1 apps when it first came out.

I rarely get updates

6 this year...

Now, let's examine some droid facts. (That's the moto droid).
I seemlessly intergrate with all of your email, exchange, outlook and enterprise accounts, and even sort your calanders, and contacts for you.

My iPhone is connected to my work email through exchange, my home email through POP3 but syncs through my outlook for calendars and contacts which it adds and updates as I do.

I intergrate perfectly with all of your social networking sites.

There is an app for that in the iPhone. Lots of them, single site ones to multi post ones.

Add here's some notes worthy:
MobileCrunch on the browser comparison using a actual test:
On the popular web-standards test known as Acid3, the iPhone scores a 100/100 while the Droid caps out at 93/100. The iPhone browser is also considerably faster, with page loads completing anywhere from 15-30% more quickly with both handsets on WiFi.

According to an Android site Androidandme.com:
Google does not support installing apps to the SD card (and likely never will), so developers are limited in what they can create. Have you seen all the awesome iPhone and iPod Touch games? Hardly any of them would fit on an Android phone. (Only 256mb for all your apps?).

And finally...if the iPhone is so bad, so horrible, so scary...why does Verizon still want it so bad?

Regardless, the BB Storm 2, iphone, and the Droid all do more that I ever thought a phone could or would do.

Dez is right, honestly I only chimed in to stop the haters with typical crap for lies. But look at it this way, both are good options. I don't like the BB's, but I can't say they have problems...just don't like the physical keyboard. It's all personal preference.

Now if the networks(all of them) could only get up to the speed of the Japanese.

This would be so nice!"thumbsup"

as far as the 3g speed, that depends on your local network. I have access to equipment to measure speeds that the normal person does not have (no I do not work for verizon wireless). Yes there are times that ATT is faster but, in most areas VZw is the faster network (no matter what owen wilsons brother says)

VZw has a lrager 3g network than ATT... Im not talking about the maps (that are actually compiled by a 3rd party company) I am talking from experience. Places I am where people with Iphones cant get signal to even call, I can surf the web.

As far as app nannies. VZw does employee people to check apps to make sure they are not malicious nor have illegal content but, they do not stop any app that doesnt fall into the above categories from being released. Yes this means their are fully nude apps, apps about sex etc.

Battery door, I messed pulled the battery out of mine just to see how hard it was... lets just say without the case it isnt coming out without a fall. I put the body glove case on my for fall protection and used it the other day... and it works, 4' fall and the phone is fine.

I was planning to switch to att for my phone service for the iphone, I waited and went droid and am very happy I did

And finally...if the iPhone is so bad, so horrible, so scary...why does Verizon still want it so bad?

$$$$$$$ simple as that. Some people are so caught up in the marketing of that phone that they will go to ATT just because of it! Why wouldn't any carrier want to have that phone. It would draw in consumers like wildfire.

To be honest, some people who want the Iphone will not get it because of the fact that it is with ATT. If Verizon offered it, then they likely would. According to a Verizon Salesman, One reason they will not carry the Iphone is because of the Insurance/Warranty issue.
Does everyone here know that if you have a warranty/repair issue with the phone, you have to send it to Apple to get it repaired. That means, the Verizon store cannot just Swap out the phone for a new one like they normally do, You would have to personally package the phone and send it to Apple, waiting somewhere between 1-2 weeks to get your phone back!!!! Apple will not allow in-store repairs or warranty work to be done by the service provider.
Verizon wants to keep their customers happy, with their equipment and the service.

Ask anyone who has had hardware trouble with their Iphones how much they like ATT or Apple after it was all said and done!

Apples marketing is genius. The Iphone is a good phone. Not debating that at all. I've used it and I liked it, but I will not switch to ATT just to get one. The Droid is Verizons ALTERNATIVE to the Iphone, not a copycat. The Droid just plain does things the Iphone cant, and some things the Iphone can do that the Droid can't. But neither one of them can wipe my ass or clean up my house!!!! LOL!!!

Granted and true moto has had lots of problems in the past, software mostly. But remember, moto does not make the software for the droid, google does. And we all know that google makes awsome software.

It's still the only phone capable of talking on the phone while using other apps.

That's a big negative there, bb storm, storm 2, tour, curve, curve 2, pearl flip, moto droid, droid eris, samsung omnia, ht ozone, touch pro 2 and imagio will all multitask. Yes, the iphone will surf the net while on a phone call. But let's be honest, first how often can you do that, and second how often does anyone do that?

Why would I need to? I can email or connect to the PC to move files.

You have no idea how important it is until you can

I replaced my boss's...it's not easily removable but its not hard to do "when needed". Why do you need to remove a battery unless to replace it?

True, but it also voids your warranty to do so. A lot of people carry two batteries with them because they are often not in a place where they can charge up. Not to mention its so nice to be able to just pop it out and slip a new one in instead of replacing the whole
phone, as at&t and apple will both tell you that you need to do when the battery fails.

Sure, at&t is fast. No argument here. But the fact is how often can you use it. Sure its quick when you can. But dialup is faster than your iphone the rest of the time.

Visual Voice mail lawsuit on many phones now, including the Droid. I don't see how this effects a phone. Unless they lose...Apple is not worried.

Apple is involved in several lawsuits over the iphone. They are being sued for false advertisements, slow internet speeds, phones not working, shutting down and bricking. They are being sued by the developers due to unfair approval process, and favoritism to certain devs, and probably the worst they are being sued by the owners of the devices for several things (all class action suits) for things ranging from malfunctioning devices, unfair business practices and even the camera that does not take a true 3 mega pixel picture.

This is untrue. Anyone with a MAC can build apps. Sure Apple has an approval process, but as I mentioned it is to help the iPhone customers have good apps. They do not let in buggy apps...Google's Android does; ask some people about the older G1 apps when it first came out.

Again, googles market is driven by its users. If we don't like it and rate it poorley it will be removed. If its a great app it will stay. In adition, all apps are frequently updated for new os's and to fix any bugs in the app. Sure some apps suck giant donkey balls. What's your point, that all 2600 whoopie cushion apps on the app store are great... apple has tons of sucky apps as well.

6 this year...

Lol, well, there you go. How many times has your phone crashed even with a new update, and be honest. My droid has never crashed, sure some have buts that's due to running several hundred apps at a time. And with the new update, the droid is even better.

My iPhone is connected to my work email through exchange, my home email through POP3 but syncs through my outlook for calendars and contacts which it adds and updates as I do.

Cool, that's good. It does pop3. Great. It still can't push. And the droid does

Yes, I read that too... now, man up and post the rest of that article. The guy that wrote it was an iphone guy. He says in his article that he is biased. And those are his scores not the actual scores. He gave the iphone the win because of its screen. We all know that's b.s. because the droid displays pages better than the iphone, and it has more colors to do it with. And those are facts that noone can dispute.

There is not one phone in the world that can run apps from the sd card. I can install them from it tho. As far as the space constraint thing. I have over 200 apps on my droid and I have seen into the thousands. How many do you really have on your iphone. Research has shown that most people install around 80 and of those, they only use around 10. However, know this google and moto are working closely to be able to run apps from the sd card. I have seen a dev unit doing it. As soon as the kinks are worked out it will be a problem of the past.

Forget not that verizon had first crack at the iphone and refused it. As for verizon picking it up... not gonna happen. And that comes directly from the south eastern president and coo. Why would we. The droid is just better. And we have some even bigger stuff coming in the next year.

I find it amusing how hard the VZW guys are attacking the iPhone & AT&T. I'm sure the droid is a good phone, but the way you guys keep going on, it makes me wonder if it's really all that or if you're just defending spending too much money.

I didnt think 150 for a phone was that bad. :?

I find it amusing the arguing between the two on service/coverage. I have both; ATT for personal use and Verizon for work. While I don't have an iPhone or Droid, they both fawking suck in coverage. I drop calls on both. ATT is the lesser of two evils for my area though!

LOL! "thumbsup" I know where you're coming from there, I'm not cracking hard on the Iphone, Just arguing the fact that the Iphone is not the BEST phone on the market, Some claim that it is the BEST and will always be the BEST and that NOTHING else will ever be as good.

The Iphone for being out for several years now still has its problems, The Droid has been out for about a month and already is starting to make Iphone junkies a little scared. In another month, there might be more updates that make the Droid even better yet than it already is on its first run! It took apple a long time to make the Iphone as great as it is, Google/Motorola seemed to hit a Homerun on its first at-bat.

I spent no more money on the Droid than I would have on the Iphone. Actually I'm spending less on the Droid because of my service contract!

I too use Att and verizon on a Daily basis, my Att is my work phone. In my area, the Verizon coverage is better, and more reliable.

We are not really beating on what Service is better, Simply what hardware is more capable.

Oh, forgot to add that I can check my emails and sent SMS while typing this sentence, and check my weather alerts and facebook updates all simultaneously while still able to pick up right where I left off
Seems more like the Iphone is more like the Icantphone,

Do you have little multiple windows open, or are you changing back and forth between programs? The iPhone will do the latter, which works for me...

It's funny how someone asked for our opinions, which they are getting.....but along the way those opinions make iPhone users Devil's-spawn Fanboys, and Droid users Saviors of all that is Wireless. It's in the eye of the beholder, people. At least some of you get that. :flipoff:

basically different windows, Droid has a drop down notification window that lets you get to several things at once, easily switching between windows and programs.

kinda cool. I've not used an Iphone enough to know if they do it like that.

!

if you have an apple store in your area they will fix your iphone while you wait...no need to send it in...

dropped my 3gs off a platform I was working on...5'-6' the screen turned white and then never worked again...took it into the apple store and they took it in back for a few minutes and then came back out with my phone in hand and they had just replaced the touch screen and lcd.....for FREE
pretty sweet service if you ask me....took all of about 10 mins..."thumbsup"

but if you dont have a apple store close by I guess your still screwed.:?

last time I bought my phone att had insurance plans for the iphone...free replacement no questions asked...=$5 per month(not sure who actually warranties the phone though?? I dont get insurance.)

are droids as nice as iphone in the screen department??
apple is know for supper clean and eye pleasing icons...makes all the other phone screens look like an old grainy computer monitor..

I love apple as you can tell....yes they have some propitiatory stuff that can kinda be a PITA...but overall the apple products work and work really well..my iphone sync's up with my mac email all that crap..apps for social networks blah blah blah...just perfect...way better then my old junk PC.

if any phone company wants to really impress me give us a phone that has a FLASH PLAYER!!!!!!!!!!!!"thumbsup""thumbsup"

I would probably pick a droid up if it had flash player...?

The droid does.

It is the only phone in the world that is flash ready and capable. As soon as flash 10 is released in january your good to go. No update needed.

They used to allow ins for the iphone, but stopped due to the overwhelming number of claims.

thats pretty cool8)8).....now if the Motorola part was fixed..lol

I hear rumors the NEW iphone set to release this spring will have flash..

It's funny...seriously with a few guys. They are easily as "fanboi" as any iPhone fanboi here or on any part of the net. They seem to think they are exempt...they are doing the same thing.

The "Droid" I'm looking toward if I were to change (though VZW is $20 more per month for the same coverage as my iPhone) is the HTC version coming soon I believe the Passion/Bravo. Huge OLED screen too. This is the one Google has been working on with HTC for Hardware and Software to make it perfect...that says a lot. It's being tested/delivered to the Google employees now: http://blogs.computerworld.com/15242/google_phone_htc_passion_buzz_being_distributed_to_employees

On to one thing soundcolor misses, 256MB for apps. A good 3D race game is over 60MB on the Droid and iPhone. Add that into your contacts (my work would be over 600 contacts @ ~40kb each thats another 24MB). Their limit is easily reached by a typical iPhone user, maybe not you BlackBerry user. I have according to my iTunes account now 316MB of apps installed. This is just apps. Do I use all everyday? No but I paid for some and others I would not want to remove to "make room". Would everyone have this issue? No, but you know how the internet is full of app junkies.

I have owned a few different iPhones since the first week they were released. I would not own an iPhone without a jailbreak. I have been running a jailbroken iPhone for a couple years now. Sure there have been a couple issues but minor. Some of the apps you cen get through Cydia are much better than Apple store apps. I am a heavy iPhone user. I have it in my hand sending emails and so on every day of the week. I love the phone but AT&T and T-Mobile (for jailbroke phone) both suck in many of the places I travel to. So much so I have been considering dumping the iPhones my wife and I own in favor of Verizon and the Droid. I have checked the Droid out. My concern with the Droid is I think I will destroy the phone. The slide open design seems a little less than desired. I think it will get broken in the back pocket over time. I may be wrong. I would like to hear from some of the Droid users to see if this has been an issue.
