Ittybitty's T1E Assassin BERG

Well after the frustration of breaking gears in the XR kept me from gaining confidence in the rig I decided to go back to a berg like quite a few other guys. Since I had the XR I was able to build this one a lot slower and pick and choose my parts rather than getting in a hurry. Since it's already built here's a quick run down of the parts involved and some pics from along the way.

This build started when I bought 3 bergs and combined the best of all three. After I had a good selection of parts to start with I picked up a pair of mamba micros since I'd had such good luck with them in my XR. Running the 35t's in the berg on the same batteries they seemed to be getting a good bit warmer...warmer than I liked. I swapped to FXR's and didn't have any issues with heat, but noticed a big difference in the tunability of the FXR's vs. the Castle products based ESC's. Then I saw a couple guys decasing BRXL's, which I had run in my XR when I first built it, but got rid of due to their size (who woulda thought about decasing them?). I have just recently gone back to the BRXL's and am loving the drag brake and I'm waiting to tune the throttle curves until I get some run time on my new Brood motors.

Sweet build list"thumbsup". I have pretty much word for word the same parts for a future build. All except a chassis, waiting on Mike to get caught up.

Yeah I think it was almost inevitable that this was gonna happen. Ive really been enjoying crawling and working on this rig. Not only do I have more confidence in it, but its so much more user friendly to maintain.
 
OK... really what I think is that it's a great build. I really like running the berg some again. Mine is set up like yours minus the 8 degree stuff and different electronics.

Did you run it any before the 8 degree stuff? The biggest difference I see is the zero ack makes the tires turn the same amount at full lock? Without the 8 degree stuff my outside wheel turns much sharper than the inside one and pushes. Is that what you experienced?
 
That's interesting...I ran it with the standard berg knuckles, but not with the SS chassis. It seemed to work really well and from watching 66bronco's and xrra_tj's rigs with his steering setup they seem to work really well. This may be way off, but my opinion on that setup was that the outside tire hooks up hard and the inside just kinda "scuffs" along. Another way I've tried to explain that to myself is if one tire is cranked all the way...and the other isn't then you've got one trying to make the rig turn and the other trying to drive forward. That just depends on the angle of the dangle too if you know what I mean.

As far as the 8* stuff goes...I've really enjoyed them so far. I really liked the steering on the XR and this setup is about as close as I can get to duplicating it. If and when I go to some Ti front lowers I'll be able to squeeze the rest of the steering out of this setup. I'm also planning on clocking the knuckles back a little more so I can gain a little bit more clearance under the transmission.
 
I should have mentioned I'm running stock Axial C's and Vanquish Knuckles. The steering is doing what I have seen others' do... but scott got the 8* stuff and his no longer does it.
 
Here it is with the narrowed sedonas. I went out for some run time with these on Monday night. I would like to go back and try them with some 350 hubs up front and some 225 in the rear to see what happens. These tires do really good work. I would venture to say that I like them quite a bit more than I did at full width.

:lmao: If they didn't work so well I'd probably be embarassed to be seen with them on my rig! Not that they look bad...but they just don't look right after unning the Blocks!
