JR vs. Hitec servos

I know this is probably like a Chevy vs. Ford thing, just thought I would ask. I have a fair amount of each JR 8711 and Hitec 5995's and would like to switch to just one brand. What are peoples likes and dislikes for each brand? Here is what I came up with:

JR Pros
8711 has more torque
3mm screw
shorter servo wire

JR cons
Replacement gears seem to be more expensive
I can get Hitec thru a local HRP dealer and can't get JR thru them, but can get JR thru LHS

Hitec Pros
Never killed one yet. Did kill an 8711 and it was replaced, but makes me a little nervous.
I can get them cheaper thru an HRP account

Hitec cons
dang 2.6mm screw size
wires are insanely long
less torque than 8711

Just wondering what others thoughts are.

JR's 3 yr warranty vs Hitec's 2 yr warranty

I have managed to kill a 5955TG twice, once a year both were covered under their warranty
1st time damaged motor - Hitec replaced motor"thumbsup"
2nd time damaged motor again - Hitec sent me a NEW 7955TG "thumbsup"

I have a JR 9100T that I have been running for just a couple months, I have yet to hurt it. I just like knowing that its covered for 3yrs, BUT I don't know how their service is IF I do break it.

I have 4 Jr 8711 servos I have never has one problem from anyone of them. I have smoked a few 5995 and 5955 Hitec servos. The Hitec servos seem to get hot faster to me when running a bec for power.

JR's 3 yr warranty vs Hitec's 2 yr warranty
Good point !!! "thumbsup"

IMO, JR servos are better than Hitecs.

I've killed one Hitec servo (they did fix it under warranty), never killed any JR's. Several of my JR's are many years old, well out of warranty, and are still used in my good racers.

Several of my Hitec's don't "feel" right in a racer, I've removed them and replaced with a JR due to this. JR's "feel" right.

I've had a Hitec and JR with similar specs, and the JR's are noticeably faster. Not sure about the power.

The "feel" and speed don't matter much in a crawler. I have a Hitec in the crawler, but I would never use another in a racer.

I bough a Hitec 5995 or 5955 (cant remember) back in January of last year. Ran it until about 3 weeks ago. Never had a problem with it on 6v on a 11.1 lipo. "thumbsup"

Although I just bought Futaba's new servo (S9157) and am much happier with it. :) We will see how long it lasts. "thumbsup"

I run a Jr 8711, love it.
never had any experience with breaking it or w/e
Don't have any with hitec either though so Im just endorsing JR.

I have ran the same 5995tg for 2years now without any problem8)

I think you can get good or bad out of both companies"thumbsup"

This is definately one of those debates that could go on and on . They both are good sevos , but I would take a HiTec over a JR , mainly because it`s what I`m used too . I`ve been running Hitecs for as long as I`ve been in rc and never killed one, only tried one JR . I put a 9100T in a truggy and noticed that it would suck a 1320mha 2s Rx pack dry in about two tanks , switched over to a 5955TG and more than doubled my run times, I was running a Vreg with both . My only complaint about the JR . If I need a servo I usally just get a Hitec because I know it will work and don`t have to wonder if it will do the job , just picked up two 7955`s , one for my 2.2 Axial and one for the upcoming Losi . Never used one of these but I have no worries :) .

I have never used the Hitec personally but have several fellow crawlers that use them. I know that all 4 of them have alot of problems with there servo's getting hot. Two of them have been through 2 in one year and one has smoked 2 of them. I have been a loyal customer of JR for over 8 years and have never had any issues with any of the servo's from them. I have used them on on road, 1/10th scale off road, 8th scale buggies, nitro monsters, and now crawlers. I am hell on all my R/C's and break stuff all the time but have NEVER had a servo failer. THANKS JR for making some great servo's."thumbsup"

I'm pretty new to crawling and picked up a second hand 9100t for my cr01 and save for the short cable don't have anything negative to say about it. i only recently started running non-junk servos and am kind of wondering what the positives about the hitecs are compared to jr's. the hitecs are usually rated for less torque, but they do cost ~$20 less. they have shorter warranties, and i don't know if we have representative samples, but they appear to die more frequently. is there something i'm missing? should i get an 8711 or another 9100t for my scx10? so many posters on this board seem to love hitec servos that i'm considering the hitec 5990 and 7955 as well. i don't think i can really go wrong with any of those 4 choices. the availability of a relatively affordable programmer is another plus for the hitec, but at this point i don't know exactly what i would ever program a servo to do.

I run 8711's on all my crawlers. Never let me down yet and they are all running on 6v through a CC BEC."thumbsup" Well worth the extra $! And they just came out with the new 8711 just for crawlers......
