The heating coils getting shorted to the slot/case (with a knife or other conductive item) WOULD make sparks....likely trip a breaker as well.:shock:No matter the voltage toasters don't heat the bread by electrocuting it. At most the knife would get hot from the coils. All the electric stuff is no where near the slots in a toaster.
They stuck their tongues on an electrical outlet and are "unavailable" at the moment...Where is myth busters when you need them..

I'm not an electrician to know one way or the other but wouldn't you also have to be grounded for you to complete the circuit to be shocked. Kinda like a bird landing on a power line?
