Ok all I am going to do a review on the Ottsix Voodoo tires(Gold and Blue compound atm). First off let me give ya some back story. My favorite tires have been the donas pretty much since I got them. They were soo predictable. I was hesitant to try the boss claws but got smacked down by a set of them, so I bought a set and went onto have a love hate relationship with them which led me back to the donas:ror:. After that I saw a thread of regarding the hb khaos pins which I tried and loved. But for some reason I kept going back to the donas and finally I stopped trying pins and ran donas. So now that we got my back story with tires taking care of I will actually start the review
.
First off let me say that yes I am a Ottsix team driver and I know some of you will say that its already gonna be biased since hes a "team" driver. No, I will not be biased. Most people that know me know that Im very honest and will not say something unless its true. I will do the best job I can to give you a thorough review which would include foam tuning, wheel setup, type of rock im crawling on, pictures, video and whatever else anyone would like to ask.
First tires I mounted up were the gold compound ones. They are extremely soft and very very sticky.
Golds: Fronts- C.I. 5.25 Cosed Cell Narrow inner with medium outer and medium tuning ring mounted on VP DHII
Rears- C.I. 5.25 Closed Cell Narrow inner with firm outer and medium outer tuning ring mounted on BWD CF wheels
First pack impression was less than desired to say the least. I could see that they would come alive later but wasnt happy at all. Pack 2 was better but still not all that great. Pack 3 was much better than 1 and 2. They would pull some lines on the smooth rock that my donas would only stare at. The places I dont like this tire so much is the rougher stuff. They still grab just not as consistent as my donas do. This may be due to the fact that im used to my dona setup and the tires themselves but it just felt like these tires dont want to be driven on the super rough stuff. This will undoubtably be my go to tire if the rocks are cold, wet, or slick because they outshined the blues and my donas on the slick rock. Throughout my 6 packs or so the tires stayed sticky and didnt really pick up much dust(like the panthers do for those wondering). That will be important for me since we run on pretty dusty rock. More tuning for them will be later because im focusing on my blue setup
Blues: Fronts- C.I. 5.25 Closed Cell Narrow inner with medium outer and medium outer tuning ring mounted on VP DHII
Rears- C.I. 5.5 Closed cell Narrow inner with medium outer mounted on BWD CF wheels
Pack 1 was the same as the golds, I was actually getting upset. The first 3 packs were ran at about 9pm last night and it was 30degrees out so it wasnt the best time to try them but ya know. Pack 2 was just as bad as pack one and I was beginning to wonder if these were even gonna work. Pack 3 is when they started coming around but by then my fingers were getting cold and I called it a night
. Today I did some suspension tuning to accomodate the taller tires and link adjustments and that helped me feel more confortable with the tires. These are taller and your truck will need to be tuned different than with the boss claws, donas, rovers, or khaos. If your gonna be switching back and forth between tires, as in donas to these, I suggest you keep a sheet for your setup for each tire so you dont get them mixed up"thumbsup". Ive put 7 more packs through them today and with the every pack im getting more and more comfortable with them. Im pulling every line I can with the donas and old setup so that made me happy. Off camber up hill dig seems to be smoother than it was with the donas/old setup and I was grinning ear to ear today watching it do some work. The tires are just showing some wear so I can tell these will last a long time which is good. These tires seem more consistent on all my rocks than the golds so far. These arent better in the slick rock but are better almost everywhere else so these are my favorite of the two compounds so far. I took a few pictures to show them but for some reason couldnt get good ones so Im sorry. I will be taking photos and videos this weekend at a gtg/comp the club is having this weekend so stay tuned"thumbsup"
