Lipo battery storage question ?

I am new to lipo batteries and was curious if it is OK to leave the battery in the RC or should I remove them and store in a lipo storage bag?? It kinda is a pain to have to remove body to get to battery after every use. thanks

I always take mine out and store them in a LiPo bag inside of a steel tool box. Better safe than sorry.

Its also good to storage charge them before you put them away, no?

I always take mine out of the vehicle, or at the minimum unplug it. I only use a lipo bag when I'm charging and only use storage charge if it's going to sit for a few days or more.

The primary risks with lipos are over discharging or overcharging.

That being said, there is risks, so do whatever you are comfortable with.

sounds good ...I do understand the risks while charging...dont understand why there would be risk with the battery sitting in RC unplugged... correct me if im wrong but anyone had trouble this way?

Never store in the vehicle!! Always remove, storage charge, and store in a safe place. Most fires happen during charging or actually using the pack. Although very rare, but possible and I have read where this happened before, a lipo actually caught on fire while just sitting not being charged or used. I have a nice ammo can that I use to store all my lipos and accessories in when not in use or transporting. I removed the two side rubber "seals" from around the lid so if one was to go up in flames it wouldnt create a bomb. I attached a pic below. The second route I would go is a Lipo sack, NOT the cheap brands because they have been proven to be inefficient. Only use LIPOSACK brand. They cost more, but they will actually contain a fire unlike the cheaper ones. I would rather take the extra time and effort in removing the battery and putting it in a safe place than burn down my house or garage from a battery for a "toy".

Thanks. I fly r/c ariplanes as well, so that explains the amount of packs. While these trucks can run on a lipo for about an hour, sadly r/c planes battery only lasts about 5-10 min tops. So its good to have 3 or 4 of them so that way by the time you fly a couple you will have the first one back on the charger. For me and my sons crawlers we have 6 total, that way when we go out crawling we have 3 each to get about 3 hours +/- of run time. Then same can apply here that I can put the first ones back on the charger while we run the other two, then in the end we can have basically a full day of crawling. Follow me??

Ps. Yea the Panthers game was terrible. Worst superbowl I have ever watched. Turnovers, Flags, Penaltys, just crazy! Always next year!

Wow thats crazy....helps answer the question I've always used NiMH in the past and would not have to worry about these things...I hope the switch to Lipo is worth it...I have not noticed a whole lot so far but hoping they will have longer run times and a hear a longer life span?

Hello, You are right, lipo battery storeage is very very importion. here are some tips about lipo battery lifespan and storage for you as below:

No fully-charged storage: You should not store a fully-charged battery for over 3 days. If not being discharged,the batteries would get puffed after being stored over one week. However, some batteries would not get puffed temporally, but they may out of work after you store them fully charged for a few times.
And keep the battery in a place where is dry and out of any corrosive gas.
