Back a few months ago my little dude got a package in the mail from uncle Ernie (CODYBOY). I had no clue he was sending anything. He had just said a few months prior that little dude was looking like he was ready for is own rig.

I get home from work one afternoon to find his package sitting at the front door. Little dude was so excited when I told him that the package was for him. When he pulled the truck out of the box. He was blown away. Next words were “can we drive it!?” And “let’s go to the garage!!!” This is what was in the box.

G-speed flat rail chassis
CODYBOY brass enduro SSD Diamond axles
Stealth Trans
HH 500v2 servo
Mamba X esc
KLR 4.19 tires

The rig was not ready for the rocks so he couldn’t go run it yet, but we did get to wrenching on it. We adjusted the links to get better driveshaft angles, outboarded the bottoms of the shocks for more stability, built mounts for a battery tray, trimmed the body for tire clearance and setup the electronics. The following weekend he got to run it.

He was so stoked! He loves running his new rig! We haven’t done much more wrenching on it. Just been putting it on the rocks whenever we get a chance.

It does pretty good for being a tiny tire belly dragger. It struggles in some areas my Nukizer walks right through, but also has pulled some sick sidehill lines the Nuk won’t. Thanks for checking out his rig! I’ll try to keep the thread updated whenever we get on the rocks or do any wrenching. Here’s a pic I got of it pulling a sick line on the backyard course last weekend. Have a good one!

Ernie and Marcia are such kind folks. Had the pleasure of meeting them a few years back. Wish we could've had more time.

I love how stoked your little guy looks behind the wheel. And for whatever reason I think it's great that y'all had to put in a little wrench time before being able to run. I feel like that one of those things for a youngster that helps build character... patience vs instant gratification or something like that. Thanks for sharing, Justin.

I was so happy to get to meet them during their cross country trip they did back in 2018. Wish they would’ve stayed longer.

I agree. I was glad it wasn’t rtr and we had to do some wrenching to get it going. Kids now days have a hard time not getting that instant gratification. He had no issue with it tho. He loves being at the workbench with me. He has his own tools and a pile of random nuts, bolts, etc that he likes to stack on the magnet tray. You should see how pissed he gets if I wrench on one of our 1:1 vehicles without him lol.

Ha.. That's too cool and honestly no surprise. I know you're raising em right. Involvement with parents is so vital... good parents I should say lol. Good job. Yep... That was when my wife and I met Earnie and Marcia. We had a great dinner to boot. I hope they remember it fondly.

Congrats to your little dude. Very nice of CODYBOY! I don't think he's active on this site anymore. Is he still active in the hobby?

Today the wife told us to get out of the house and go drive RC trucks or something. Soooo…. We did!!! LoL!!!

With my work schedule and the projects I have here at the house me and little dude haven’t had a bunch of time together. So she wanted us to go do boy stuff. I started turning wrenches again a few months back. Mostly taking care of a fleet of 44 semi trucks and all of the company’s equipment (loaders, forklifts and moffetts)

Also working on everything from dirt bikes and side by sides to muscle cars and airboats and everything in between. I love my new job! I have missed mechanic work. Took little dude out to the shop a few weekends ago to show him around

He loved checking out all of our projects.

Ok back to crawling.
Each time we go run it keeps his attention a little longer. We made it to the 20 min mark today! LoL!

He made it allot farther than I would have like this.

And the disappointment was real when he found out it wouldn’t work for long. Lmao!

He tried out a few more spots before a beetle got all of his attention.

Then I ran a few lines with it. I’m really starting to learn this rig and finding it to be very capable when you pick your lines right. It is also a bit of a different driving style running a tiny tire belly dragger. I managed to get it through the crevice course without any mishaps.

That’s all for now. I’ll keep ‘em coming as this adventure continues. Have a good one!

Thanks brother! Very nice of him! No unfortunately Ernie has decided he’s too old to be climbing around through the rocks. He isn’t in the hobby anymore. He’s been learning the craft of knife making. Some really nice work he’s doing with it.

Yeah, I miss seeing Earnie on here as well as Natedog. I knew that Earnie was kinda feeling his age a few years back so not really a surprise. There are days that I can't seem to do anything without it resulting in a pulled shoulder, twisted ankle, etc... Enjoy your youth, folks lol!

lol, nothing wrong with your lil dude chasing the critters around. I grew up in the country where every day was an adventure... snakes, frogs, bugs, and assorted rodents kept me endlessly entertained. Add to that the farm animals/ livestock and all the gardens, fields, streams, woods, etc... I was a happy boy and always learning.

Just want to say that to this day I have such a respect and appreciation of my father ( deceased in 2010) regarding the way that he raised me. It was quite similar to the interaction that it seems you have with your kid... mechanics, farm equipment, living off the land, etc... so much of that helped me to develop into a productive and conscientious adult.

Alternately, my wife was raised in the suburbs on fast food and video games... a stark difference and an upbringing that I continue to see hindering her development as an adult. She's a great gal in many ways and she's a damn hard worker but she reminds me almost daily that there are many vital benefits being raised with an enthusiasm and appreciation for the outdoors. I digress.

Fwiw That is one KILLER crawling course. Looks like some back-breaking work went into it!

I definitely miss Ernie and Nate being in here. They were the first two guys to start helping me get my hobby going.

All my kids love critters. They grew up catching bugs, running through the woods and taking care of chickens and having a garden. Also learning plants and other natural edibles. Along with vehicle maintenance.

I’m with you on that one for sure! Very thankful that my dad taught me so much about the outdoors and good work ethic.

Luckily my wife grew up kinda the same way I did and has allot of the same thoughts on life.

Thank you brother! That’s years of collecting rocks from work and stacking here and there when I got a few mins. Most definitely back breaking, but very nice to have a course at home. Still have the backyard course (pic with the black tube) the other pictures are from the wooded lot next to us where all the kids play. I have a couple videos from out there. Maybe someday soon I’ll get a chance to shoot some more footage for an update video.
