Look out, one fast girl coming through!

Nice work."thumbsup""thumbsup"
It's good to see the 2 of you spending time doing things like this. Not enough teens or parents are willing to make the commitments to each other.Enjoy this time,it doesn't last long enough.

That turned out great Grizz "thumbsup". That will be something to see running down the track! When is the next race? I would love to come watch the next time you guys go out.

Thats very cool something your child will never forget got my daughter into racing quad mx we traveled all over the country $150,000.00 later she started college and has less then one year left to become a rn she know makes more money then i do working at the old floks home but she always reminds me of the good times we had raciing Priceless.
Yup, those kind of memories last forever, for the kids and us. "thumbsup" Thanks kasper.
Another awesome memory of her Dad she can add to her bank. Pretty sweet ride Chris, I'm sure the paint looks even better in person. Seriously, thats cool you got that for her. This day in age doing things as a Family is hard to find. I envy you. Props homie!
Thanks DJ, 8) We all enjoy this and like you said keeping a tight family is important.
The paint is a good 10 footer, which is what I was aiming for. If you look close you can see some dust in the paint and waves in the bodywork but at 80mph you won't notice a single flaw. :ror:
Wow, that looks good! I like the little single flame floating in there :D
Two things bothered me about the old flame job. One, I didn't like the style of flame. Two, there were no "licks" (the little single flame) and a good flame job has to have one or two licks. :) Thanks John. 8)

Thanks Pat. She was a big help. She did much of the sanding on the old paint to remove the flames while I was at work and she helped me through all of the tape work. The car obviously didn't "need" paint, but it was a good excuse for us to have a project together and I enjoy hanging with her. She's almost 17 so I need to make the most of what time I have before she's off to college and her own life. 8)

I am working hard to get everything together because the next race is Aug 28th. I don't know how well we will do at this race because much of the car is different and I don't know what time it's going to run. We had the motor rebuilt, I'm going to take the throttle stop out since she is allowed to run as fast as 7.90 now, and I rebuilt the clutch with a new spring so I don't know how it's going to react.
You are certainly welcome to come watch Todd, we'd love to have you go. Admission is $10 or $12 bucks and that includes pit pass so you can hang out at the trailer and on the starting line.

Awesome job Chris and Tyler "thumbsup"
You have some lucky kids Chris.
Kids who have parents who are active in their life's, usually turn out to be good adults. I wish I lived closer and could come watch Tyler race.
Good luck at the next race.
Lets see some pic's when the bodys back on the car.

Dang, she is almost out of the house. Is she thinking of local schooling or travelling somewhere?
6 months ago she was considering nursing and becoming an EMT so that would have been local schooling. She went and spent a day at the local fire station and did a ride along in an ambulance.
However, now she is thinking of something in wildlife biology again. That was something she was thinking about a couple years ago. She would like to do something with marine life and cleanup of the oil in the Gulf. She doesn't really want to move away but I told her she would have to for that kind of career.
She's not sure what to do yet.

Thanks Troy. "thumbsup" She's a great person so she deserves it.
I'm going to get the orange stripe and clearcoat done this week. As soon as we we get all the Dzus fasteners on it I'll get a good outside picture. 8)

damn dude that looks sick

gotta get some vids up, i wana see this thing go
Will do. 8)
Looks sick Grizz!! Definatly looks better... I wasn't digging the lion!:ror:
Thanks Robb. Yeah, the lion made sense for the previous owner but I never really felt it and the style of flames really bugged me. :ror:

I laid down the orange stripe in the center of the car last night. It looks great. Now I need to clear coat and buff it out.

I was looking for you on the 28th. i race in the RMSS class (rocky mountian stick shifters) and saw the jr drags up there. how did she do?

Any updates gizzlybear ?:ror:

We were there, we were pitted just north of the grandstands. Next to a big white toterhome with a big blue trailer.

2 weekends ago we spend all day Saturday and part of the day Sunday wet sanding the clear coat. Then I spent the rest of Sunday polishing the clear coat. The paint came out really nice, much nicer than anything I have ever done. It isn't show quality but we are proud of it. "thumbsup"

The new motor ran good and didn't need much tuning. For the first qualifying round the car ran a 9.19 at about 73mph. Tyler's reaction time was about .136 because the new clutch spring does not come on as quick as the old one. She is going to have to get used to it.
The second qualifying round we set the dial in at 9.15 and the car ran 9.16. Not bad.

As we were waiting for the first round of eliminations the wind came up. We were trying to decide between 9.09 and 9.12 for a dial in and decided on 9.12 because the wind let up a bit as we were in the staging lanes. As we passed under the tower I checked the flags at the end of the track and they showed a light tailwind so I told Ty we were good with the 9.12. Once you come out from under the tower they record your dial in so you can't change it after that.
As Ty was staging I looked at the flags again at the end of the track and they were whipping hard. I thought "oh shit, the tail wind has come way up", sure enough and she ran a 9.09 so we lost.

We talked about it and she said she is going to try and pay more attention to things like the wind from now on and lift at the finish if she thinks she needs to. Regardless, we all had a fun day and it was great just to be out racing again.

I don't have any god pics because the sensor in my D70 decided to die that day and all the pictures came out crappy. :x Gotta buy a new camera now.

Here is what happens when the sensor goes bad in your camera.

I made black and whites of a few pics to try and salvage them. My dad took a bunch of pics so hopefully he will get those to me soon.

Cody got to sit in his favorite car, Kyle Cramsey's Grim Reaper car, he was excited about that. :ror:

Long time coming but I finally put together a little video. Ty is up at college and misses racing so I put this together to remind her.

This is a qualifying run where she knocked of a perfect (0.000 sec) reaction time off the line.
