looking for a photo of k44 with 1.55 stock steel wheels?

Looking for a photo of the RC4wd K-44 axle running the 1.55 stamped beadlocks with a 3mm hex, and a standard 6mm hex.

I am wanting to see clearances from the back side of the rim to the knuckle/ steering arm.

any one make a hex adapter narrower than 3mm? would there be room to use it?

You could not use a hex that is less than 4.5mm thick as the wheel hub would rub on the knuckle.

does a 4.5mm hex exist or do I pull out the belt sander and slowly sand down the aluminum to the correct thickness? (not really a problem) "thumbsup"


I am looking for total axle dimensions running those rims with the mudthrasher, dirtgrabber or desertking tires. I sent an e-mail to rc4wd last night but I think that is a fairly large request to take 2 tires, mount them on a specific rim, and put that rim on a specific axle for me; just to give me dimensions (outside tire to outside tire). We will see.

I odnt believe a 4.5mm hex exists. I know Tamiya make 5mm and 4mm hexes. You can get a 5mm hex and take a bit off.
We (RC4WD) have plenty of wheels with various offsets that can reduce the track width.

Yes you probably wont get a reply or it will get passed on to me so I might as well take the pic for you anyway. I will post it later....

You can just about get away with using 4mm thick hexes if you dont overtighten the locknuts. The track width measure 199mm with the 1.55 steel wheels. The tires stick out a further 3mm from edge of the rims.
 
so overall would be 199+ 6mm (3mm per side tire bulge) gives 205mm width- is that running the 6mm hex, or taking into account the shaved down 4mm hex?

I just noticed, that is a REAR 44- I would be using the Front 44, and a rear 1.9 yota axle. think a ford product: front Dana 44 and rear 9" I believe the Yota 1.9 scale axle is the closest to a 9".

now I know the specs will be off~ any help now? I am sorry for not being clear!

Edit I see they are the same width~ I also now note they are 166mm pin to pin, does any one make a rim that uses JUST pins and not hex's for drive purposes?

Well the K-44 has a 3:1 ratio and the yota/ 9" has a 2.53:1 ratio. I dont think that is close enough to run together-

was trying to keep it all "Ford" substuting the yota axle as a 9"- thinking now there is no way to do that. Guess it has to go K44's front and rear! (what a bummer :mrgreen:)

i have a k44 front and a yota year on one of my scalers. it *works* fine. i notice a TINY bit of pushing when i steer. (the car tries to go straight when i turn, but ive only noticed it one time, and i was towing a heavy trailer, so i don tthink it counts haha)
 
Any vehicle locked front and rear will try to go straight in a turn, it's just made more obvious like that. And a little history, Toyota actually stole the design from Ford.
