I was a long time nitro guy and currently switched to all electric. I really want to get a crawler or scale truck to play around with. I will not be doing any comps. I am just wondering how capable are the scale trucks compared to an off the shelf crawler. Say the AX10 vs SCX10? The plan is to build a small course in my yard to run it on.

A 1.9 scale rig if setup properly can almost as capable as a 2.2 basher.
ex: ax-10 scorpion kit (with x-trail chassis) versus ax-10 rtr.

A scx-10 is a very capable rig. I'm a comp rig guy and I must say I'm starting to like my scalers more and more. If you have no plans of comping the don't even look at the AX-10. The Axial TR scx-10 or Honcho or plain ol scx-10 is the way to go. You won't be let down.

Honcho."thumbsup" Looks cool and it can climb. You can make small mods to make it claw better like wheels, tires, links, shocks...etc.

One more thing, is there any difference in the scx10 kit and the tr besides one is built and has cheap electronics?
