I was looking at the comp wheels, and like them, but what is the pros and cons of the delrin vs. the aluminum wheel materials?

The aluminum are heavier and you can get all the annodized colors. The delrin are lighter and you can dye the white ones but not the black..."thumbsup"
Other than that they are basically the same......sturdy and easy to use.

If you don't pack the wheels full of bearings they both make a lil noise. I have a few sets of rolling weight Mayhems if you would like to check em out in person.

i love them, ive got 2 sets of black delrin and one set of aluminum. on my berg i run all 4 completely full with lead wraps added to the front. so you can't hear them at all. i love my mayhems!

I have one set of black delrin ones and four sets of aluminum ones and I hear the bearings a little but it doesn't bother me.

I like the aluminum ones for my rigs because I don't have to load the inside of the tire with weight since I can get enough with the bearings. I had to wrap 2 full strips of weights on the delrin ones to get them where I wanted them.

So in short go for the aluminum ones and never worry about it again.

While I've not heard of it being an issue I'm afraid to run the delrons due to the potential of threads loosening or stripping on the beadlocks.

As for MAyhems in general...they rock"thumbsup"

I've tried others and gotten rid of them and kept the Mayhems, and am currently waiting on another set to arrive

i prefer delrin because i don't have to worry about screws loosening up. ive noticed on aluminum wheels that in the first run on them i get a screw or two backing out. ive started using a small amount of blue loc-tite on them and its never been an issue since. the aluminum ones are nice because i only have to wrap one strip of lead around the fronts, whereas the delrin ones require much more.

This is not a problem ,in fact I think the delrins ones hold screws better . But like with the Alum. ones you can over tighten them . "thumbsup"

Hey Ken, My delrin 7's are tough as hell! I can crank down on the screws hard enough to strip the head of the screws out before the delrin strips. They hold just fine.

I see they come with 7/16 bearings, but can accept up to 9/16 bearings.....Anyone doing this?

I thought the bearings that came with them were 9/16. I haven't done it yet but have been looking on the bay and they are pretty cheap to get. I will have to try them out and let everyone know.

So lets say I want wheels for my Berg, in the comp style......And I click order and see.....

Competition Double Phatty
$130.00 shipped within the USA
Part Number ME-1004-Comp (specify aluminum or Delrin)
Rims available in Aluminum or Delrin

The benefits of this design:
Need only remove outside locking ring to adjust weight
No need to remove the tire, saving time
Adjust weight by adding or subtracting 9/16" ball bearings or stationary weights (stationary weights not provided)
Just about any type of wheel weights (other than bearings) can be used
Ball bearings will always stay at the bottom of the wheel to keep center of gravity at its lowest point
Largest ball bearing 9/16" or smaller can be used
The key to this design using any type of ball bearings is to KEEP them below center line of the wheel; if above center line it will not work as intended. If you are above center line the bearings have a tendency to flop over the top and lose the benefit of keeping the center of gravity at its lowest point
This design doesn't add a lot of weight, but what weight is there keeps the center of gravity at its most useful point (low in the wheel)

A Set Includes:
Four (4) Mayhem 2.2 Competition Double Phatty Rims – Machine Finish or Delrin
Four (4) Traditional rings - your choice of color (red, blue, gold, black or machine finish, violet and green are special order)
