Any of you fellow nerds into hunting with metal detectors? Looking at getting one and curious as to what a decent starter one would be?

I had a Bounty Hunter Land Star some years ago with several different sized coils. Never found anything worth much, mostly new coins, lead bullets, some arrows I shot years ago and other misc stuff. Never really had any place good to go to use it where I had a chance of finding something good. Lost interest and sold it. Every now and then I get the itch to buy one again but like guns more. There was this Whites I liked years back that was kinda expensive back then and has since been discontinued. May pick one up on ebay sometime and get back into it. There were times over the years I could have used one but didn't have it anymore.

We sold Whites and Garrett at the LHS I managed. Whites definitely had better fit and finish. They also had WAY better customer service and repair time turnaround.

I asked a guy I work with about a good entry level metal detector. He's all about it.

He recommended this.

Garrett AT Pro, ~$600
Garrett AT Pro Metal Detector | Manufacturer

He said get the Garrett Pro Pointer too, offers all metal mode and works good to really pin point when your intial hole is dug.

He said if your in the sand, make a sand scoup.

I'm outta here before this thread gets too gay. :flipoff:
