Mini summit review

id have to get ya exact measurements.they might even have them on the traxxas site.stretching the wheelbase would almost be impossible with out heavy modification.

Yes I was hoping for the exact measurements. Thanks

oh man i forgot all about this...ill check for ya but for now here is a pic from today.

Twisted have you had any problems shreding the gears in the rear diff? I have a Mini Summit with the titan 12 turn and after probably 5 packs my rear diff was TRASHED. I did have my slipper set correctly and there is no visible wear on my spur gear either. What are your thoughts on JB welding the rear diff? Im towing with the idea of tuning my summit for rock crawling.

no problems what so ever and my diffs are almost full of ofna diff lock.i would use something less permanent then jb weld.

Was just thinking about trying that with the diff I trashed. Only on the rear I would still like a limited slip up front.

Try hot glue, I had some axles I bought useed that were hot glue locked and if you leave them a little greazy the glue won't adhere to the gears and its easily removed. Let the glue tack up a little bit but not dry when you re-assemble the diff so it won't glue anything together. My Mini Summit will be here next week, I am pretty anxious to try it out. I am having a blast with my Rally VXL, I ordered the Summit w/ the brushed motor, I want to try a few different motors I have in it and if I don't like them it will get the 1/10 VXL I have kkickin around.

Just wondering what are the wheelbase and width outside of the tire to outside. And how easy or hard would it be to streach yhe wheelbase
track width is 10.43" per Traxxas' site. The 1/16 e-revo is 9.4", only difference I can see is the rim offset on the rims. Summit wheelbase is 8.43, thought I've seen optional rear arm that add 10mm to the wheelbase? Traxxas part 7132R?

man im sorry for never getting back to ya on this. my summit is apart as im rebuilding it. the project is in the non rc crawler forum if ya want to check it out.

also the optional rear arms are already on the summit stock.

mm read the 1st part of your review and mostly agree

my friend recently got one ( about 3 days back)
and today we were driving it around a 1/10th off road track and was doing faily well.. took some massive hits and nothing seams to be wrong with it..

but yeah nice bashing car. not so much a trail or crawler truck :)
also got to play with a big ( well normal? ) summit. and dam haha that thing was nice. but totally different to drive

the 1/16th summit was the vxl. and has a Heap of power for the little truck and yeah pretty sweet

Ya if u have a good charger its really cool and has a crap load of power u can press the gas hard and hit the lid easy

Yeah out of the box (vxl on lipos ) was like doing backflips (( wuld land on the roof D: ))
But yeah bit of tuning and just nearlly bottoms out. Lot more acceration tho but yeah nice truck.

Im looking at getting the bigger one tho haha

Any updates?

I just learned of the mini summit, and I'm sold. I'm going to build one up to be a crawler. Why? Just to be different I guess.

I'm thinking Novak mongoose 18.5, welded diffs, RPM hop ups, not sure about the servos, I havn't seen it in person yet.

Anybody have any good build links?
