New Location: Thompson Dam (Near Jay Cooke State Park). LINK TO MAP
Start setup at 10am, courses will open around 11am. (1 hour later than normal comp times)

We were recently made aware that there is a large boat show in Duluth this weekend, so we've decided to move this event to Thompson Dam to avoid the heavy traffic expected in Duluth.

*Note-Carlton Daze are happening this weekend in Carlton, MN as well. But we expect this will be less busy than Duluth. Hwy 210 may be more congested than normal, but it is supposed to be open from I35 to Thompson Dam. Please allow an extra 15 minutes for traffic in Carlton (maybe half hour to be safe).

Directions From the South-Take I35 North until Hwy 210 (Same exit as Black Bear Casino). Take 210 to the East for about 3 and a half miles. You'll pass over a bridge with a dam on the left side. Just past the bridge is a gravel parking lot on the left side. Park in that lot. Directly across the street is a walking path that starts with a few rock steps leading into the woods. Follow this path for 50-100 feet and you'll find our crawling area. (Worst case, if Hwy 210 is closed between I35 and Carlton, continue on I35 to Thomson Road/Co Rd 1 and follow directions from the North below.)

Directions from the North-Take I35 South to Thomson Road/Co Rd 1. Take Thomsom Road South for about 2 and a half miles. Continue onto Dalles Ave heading West for about a half mile. Turn right on Hwy 210 heading North/West. Follow 210 for about a half mile. On the right side, you'll find a gravel parking lot right before a bridge with a dam just past the parking lot. Park in that lot. Directly across the street is a walking path that starts with a few rock steps leading into the woods. Follow this path for 50-100 feet and you'll find our crawling area.

*Hwy 210 is closed East of Thomson Road/Dalles Ave, before Hwy 23. Unfortunately, Hwy 23 will not be available as an alternate route. See MNDOT's website for road closures. LINK

Classes: 2.2 Pro, 2.2 Shafty, Trail Class

Judging-Just like last year, everyone will be judging at every comp. Each person will time/call penalties for the person immediately ahead of you in line. After that run, you run the course. Then after your run, grab the clipboard and score the next person in line. Once that run is done, you are free to move on to the next course. And repeat the above steps for your second course. This worked great last year to get everyone involved in judging. We will help out those who aren't comfortable judging yet. Let us know, and we can make sure someone can walk you through it the first few times. You can also freshen up on your rules knowledge by taking the USRCCA judging quiz-HERE

See our 2013 schedule thread for more details. LINK

DOLLAR DANCE!!! Bring an extra battery for your Trail Rig and an extra dollar! After the 3 classes are ran, we are going to put together a small G9 course for our trail class rigs. We'll setup a longer course marked by flags. Teams of 2 people will traverse the course, one person driving, and the other person keeping time. This will be a timed event, instead of points. Time penalties for touches/'hand of God'. Winner takes the cash purse!

Hope to see you out there!!!"thumbsup"

I'll be there, just need to rebuild or replace one of my motors on the XR10. Both of my scalers are ready to go.

If I can find any pictures from Jay cook I'll post them up tomorrow night.

We'll be there. Here are a few pics from the last time we were there, the scaler GTG that just us and Chuck showed.:flipoff:

If anybody is on the fence about this event you should go. This area is some of the best terrain Minnesota has to offer and if you don't agree I'll pay for your parking.

Sorry guys we're out again. Mandatory OT for Greg at Center Point Energy repairing worn out air conditioners and Brawley's band is playing Saturday night so he's not a possibility. As for me it's a long drive to sit in the parking lot waiting for you morons to break your stuff......8)

Have a blast it looks like some "sweet weather" is coming for the weekend. "thumbsup"

A Saturday comp? Well much like the rest of this yr, busy as usual.

I really do miss seeing you all, hope to make it out again sometime this yr, if not perhaps next yr things will be closer to normal for my family (Fathers death this spring has raised a lot of work for me to help my mom just about every weekend)

hope to see you all very soon

take care all and don't forget about me. :flipoff:

Sorry to hear about your father, condolences to you and your family.
Hope to see you at an event, take care!

First off, Kevin...it's a G6. :flipoff:

I'm out...again. It's my 2 year anniversary weekend w the wife. Fargo has an all VW car show on Saturday as well. Sorry fellas, have fun.

I'm out. Wife got a new job and is working a lot of weekends now. Hoping to make it to August. Should have a Pro rig finished by then too.

Have a good time.

There is a small detour on Hwy 210 that takes you over one block, but takes you right back to 210. No biggie.

A few of us are grabbing breakfast at Spirits restaurant. See you all shortly. "thumbsup"
