ok so ive posted here twice now and both previous posts have been sorta remedial i guess. once i get my feet under me to do it im gonna post up pictures and what-not on what ive done and found with my yeti but for now i have curiosity question for you guys. what motor do you guys have in your yeti's? mine still has the stock vangaurd motor though im pretty sure my stock vangaurd esc was trashed due to the bec burning up and taking the rest of the esc with it so its switched to the sidewinder witch i havent found any real difference. but my motor seems to be sorta weak output. i was thinking on switching to the tekin pro hd. thoughts? what you running?

I am running the stock RTR motor with a CC Mamba Max Pro and it’s pretty mean on 3s. Making a change soon to Tekin RX8 ESC and Tekin Pro4HD 3000kv.

nasty- youll have to tell me how that tekin performs. that the one i wanna get. problem is i have to get the money for it first as it is very obviously more expensive then castle

magic- does that 1410 get any hotter then the stock vangaurd? how do the 540 cans perform over the vangaurd 550 cans?

I have a Tekin Pro4HD 3000kv with a CC Mamba X. I have nothing to compare it to, but it's fun on 2S and more than a handful on 3S. And excellent low speed control. Plus, crawler mode combined with a 2-speed makes my Yeti a really good all rounder.

My old Yeti had a Tekin Pro4HD 2500kv on 4S but it always felt slower than it should have been. It ended up getting dismantled to build my IFS Bomber.

My new Yeti TT is getting a Holmes PP 3500kv on 4S because who wants a slow trophy truck.

I considered the Tekin Pro4 but went with the ROC 412HD for its "element proof" design and better low end control. From what I gather from the marketing materials, the Pro4 is more SCT, while the ROC412 is more crawler. I do know that every day of the year, in the trails where I run my trucks, it will be wet.

I went with 3100kv as it seems a sweet spot for a 8 lb yeti on 3s. I am geared for 32 mph on 5" tall tires, and it has far more power than traction on dirt. Low gear with the 2-speed nicely changes how the motor responds when crawling, and the Aux wire function of the Mamba X esc has the drag brake automatically on in low gear, and off when in high gear.

It took a few minutes of practicing to be able to get the steady runs I videoed here:

sorry guys, ive been busy with the chidlens for a few days. anyway, right now im still just running the vangaurtd but i do have it geared pretty tall, i like the rock bouncer style my truck has in low gear but the thing is an absolute monster in high gear. i dont want to go into to much detail on what i did to the truck. i wanna post that in a "story" manner post later. but its far from stock at this point. we have a track just over the ridge from me thats putting in a rock racer track as we speak (pending the let up of weather. a little snowy/wet right now) so i wanna keep the thing kinda fast. but i think itll do ok the way it is.

Im now on a neu castle 2650 with 24/56 gearing on 4S. Was on a hw max 10 SCT, but just trying out a hobbyking xcars escs now...as it was dirt cheap and the HW esc is in my sons Twin hammers with another 2650 and 4S....its evil !

i have two family members that have twin hammers but they are afraid to tear out the tranny on 3s. how does your do on 4s?

I've run a tekin pro4hd 1850kv @ 4s for years flawlessly.

It only went in last night and we put a pack through it on Tarmac...its early days though, but it is the kit version. We have it locked in 2nd gear. The 48p spur broke early on so I put in a 56T 32p axial in. Its currently on 23/56 as i cant get a bigger pinion in due to the size of the motor "thumbsup"

Its been on 3S though for a month since it was built, starting on a 3660 3800kv then onto the 1512 2650. I have turned down the DR for channel 2 to 75% ( on 4S) and put some punch control in place as my son can get "rather keen" with the throttle.

tech - i was gonna stay on 3s and go for the 3800 which is supposed to be a 2s motor but i was thinking it couldhandle it..
