Mt Bike Time

Just took my 1993 Schwinn Moab MTB that I had built up thru the 1990's and replaced/rebuilt most of the components and cables. It is now running all Deore XT components...eBay was my friend on this rebuild. I also replaced all the rubber. My neighbors that ride OFTEN were digging this bike. It even got my wife motivated and we hit the LBS last weekend and grabbed her a road/path hybrid bike...$300 with nice components. She is really digging it. It came with "Lifetime Adjustments".....but I was a PT bike builder/tech for Sportmart --> Sports Authority --> Galyan's/Dicks for 11 years (Thru my 20's for beer $$$) and will just save us the trips and keep her's running smooth. Even at the LBS there are deals to be had.

If it's possible for you to do it wouldn't hurt to save up some cash and double your budget. If you get in the $400 range the choices are a lot better than the $200 range.

I am 14, and WITH MY OWN MONEY from working summer jobs, I bought a 2011 specialized epic s works, with mavic crossmax carbon rims, juicy arbon brakes, x-0 shifters, and carbon bars. It was a little over 4500 and weighs 19.5 pounds. Its amazing how much better this bike is than my old epic. If you can wait a year, get a good 700-1000 dollar budget, go to a good bike shop, and get a specialized or trek. If you buy a walmart bike, you will be unhappy with it/ spend too much money to make it half decent. Why not work overtime for a few months? It took me three years to buy my s works.....

I'm wondering where you managed to get a 2011 S Works epic for $4,500 with carbon wheels? That MSRP on those is $9,300. If you got the non-S Works epic for that...It's more believable.

Cant go wrong with a used Cannondale M400 they are around your price range. and have decent components.

There is no way you got an S-works Epic for 4500 especially for the 2011 model, unless you got the non-S works as mentioned above OR your parents chipped in...
