I searched on here for months, gathered all info and I mean ALL info I could on a MRC build and finally got all the parts and low and behold nothing is working right now! I think I've bothered everyone a dozen times but something is just not working right.
Here's what I got:
DNA Slingshot kit using Delrin 4 links
Mod motor w/Sidewinder ESC, BEC not installed yet (haven't made it that far yet!)
645 Servo
Losi Mini Shocks, Internal limited w/tubing and stock springs
All 3 Losi metal lockers
Proline wheels with Blues
DNA Wheels w/cut and shut Gladiators!!!
And here's my problems:
(Sorry no Pics, wife got the camera)
Got the Servo mounting problem but think I got that fixed just haven't got there yet.
Main problem is the dang articulation!! I was getting OK/good articulation with the stock shocks (limited modified with tubing) but wanted to get the Losi Late models on and go from there. As soon as I got them modified (see above) I lost TOTAL articulation! I moved around the positions of EVERYTHING to try and fix, the shocks and all the ends of the 4 link system but it is SOOO STIFF that its worse than an old 80's era monster truck (circa Bigfoot 1983'ish, lol!!) It climbs but the suspension doesn't move at all! If it hits obstacle with 1 tire it will "teeter" instead of articulate whick I KNOW is wrong. I had the electronics ziptied on the top links and thought they were binding the suspension up so I removed them, still no improvement. On the link set up, I'm running the top ones from the outside of chassis (via Axial bent ends) to the middle of the DNA supplied plate (like a "V" shape). The bottom links are straight in front and bent in rear both mounted on outside of chassis. Basically set it up according to a bunch of "builds" on this site. You get the idea.
I drained the shocks and tried them dry, nothing. I ran thick oil, nothing. Now I have thin in it now and still nothing! Now with all the trial and error the main mounting bolts for the side plates to the skid stripped out and one of the bottom links (on the inside) stripped also, which makes it even more of a headache!
I was so detirmined that I literally worked on it for over 8 hours today (closer to 10 hours and my neck and back are KILLING ME!!) and I'm still on ground zero!
Sorry for the long rant/post, but without pictures I gotta explain it as best as I can. I appreciate ALL the help and I know you're sick of hearing of my sob story of this build but this is my first build (rock climber) and I want to have it ready for a Comp in a couple weeks but at the rate I'm going It'll be next year (literally!!) before I get the dang thing to have some decent suspension!
BTW, If you are in the Temecula/Murrieta California area and you would like to help, by ALL means drop me a message...would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!
