This is what Traxxas should have done instead of releasing yet another mini slash chassis copy...

Well I know it's been done before, but being a die hard Subbie fan I had to convert my Slash 4x4 PE...and I just so happened to have a buddy that wanted the Aston Martin body so he sold me his brand new RTR Subaru WRC body for $50 instead of the usual $100 Kyosho charges.

-AKA 1:8 Buggy Wheel Adapters
-AKA Wheels (thinking about doing RIT die for that Subaru gold)
-Proline M2 Knuckles Buggy Tires (most scale looking rally tire I could find in 1/8)
-Inferno GT 1 Subaru WRC Body trimmed to fit
-Stock gearing for now
-Had to put more pre-load in the rear
-Custom body posts front and rear
-Switched to firm sway bars
-Stock VXL system
-Shaved off rear bumper while maintaing the supports for the rear sway and rear diff screws
-Removed front bumper and added custom front foam bumper

Took her out to the track today...scale jumping is bad ass! She can definitely hold her own airborne just like the Slash 4x4. I even took her out to the on-road section...could work with some better springs and a lower CG...but I want to keep it a rally car so very impressed.

That's the Kyosho Inferno GT1 Subaru WRC body.

Amain sells it for $95...not including shipping lol!

It was just a lucky find for me with my buddy for $50...I have been hunting that body down since I bought my Slash! 4WD, large scale, 3S power, easy to work on, and it due to it's short course chassis able to handle jumps!

I wish we had a rally track here damn it! All we have are baseball fields...not that I'm complaining lol! I'm going to scour some areas of open construction sites where there's a good amount of loose rock and dirt.

That is awsome. I have been thinking about doing that with my pe slash.. I think you have convinced me. Body of shots of the body posts?

Body posts are very easy to mount on the Slash 4x4 since there are so many mounting locations on the top of the bulkheads.

I just used some extra long posts I had laying around from Axial and Proline and cut them to fit.

Tricky part is to mount them on the body perfectly. Good luck!

Dude, I have a PE slash. I was already looking to do the 1/8 buggy wheels Badland coversion. Might as well do the body too. Great idea! Looks sick!

Thanks for all the replies guys...still need to tweak it out more. I need stiffer springs and probably 50 wt shock oil?

Or should I keep the current oil in it?

I love it. If only the rear wheel where a little longer. I would be at the hobby shop tonight.

Saydee1800 you should have seen how nasty it looked before I cut the wheel well in the rear about 2-3mm more along the inner arc that touches the end of the 3 stripes.

That also annoys me a bit how the rear doesn't quite match up and that damn exhaust hole. I tried using the side banner stickers from Tamiya's 1/10 Subaru WRC to cover the hole but apparently Kyosho's "Subaru gold" is different than Tamiya's.

Don't get me wrong I love it.

I will of course convert it to brushless. I just can't stand nitro.

It's a DRX Subaru Impreza WRC 1/9th scale. I plan on using it for both on road and off road. Just add some street wheels and it should hold it's own. 8)

I was actually about to order the DRX too! Until I realized I don't race my Slash anyway so might as well turn it into a rally car.

I just didn't like how the DRX is single speed. I'm thinking of modding up a RS4 rally ever since the Super Nitro Rally was discontinued. What a shame!

I don't race. I just like to play with toys. RC Monster sell conversion kits. They have both single and two speed. I have been told when I was planning on converting my GT2 Vette to keep it one speed. Let crap. I sold it before I ever got the chance.

I wonder how much larger the GT2 body is? It might fit perfect on the slash.
