Hey guys. I am extremely new to the hobby of Scale Crawling. My dad bought me an Axial Deadbolt a couple months ago and I love it. I think the body is actually pretty cool, it just needed some work to really make it great.

This is my current build, I will update as continue to improve it. It is also my first build so it is far from perfect, but I am having such a good time with it. It looks pretty great from about 5 feet away.

---------

I added a 3D printed grill to try and make it look more like a real car. I also used the light bucket tree from Axial and a cheap lighting kit. I added the SSD winch bumper and a Warn Winch for recovery and protection.

I added the Knight Customs 3D printed Snorkel on the hood. These are great products.

Added a custom mesh roof made with some kind of needle work thing I found at the hobby store.

A few scale accessories.

Rear bumper all from SSD and exhaust from Knight customs. Door handles and License plate are printed on our own little 3D printer in the garage.

Painted my driver's head to make it look a little cooler.

Overall I am pretty happy with it. I think it looks pretty neat. I plan to add metal links, I need to get my winch working. I also really want to do wheels and tires. This hobby is a blast. So much to do.

glad I found this....been thinking about getting a Deadbolt...wasn't sure until I saw your truck...Knight Customs has some cool products...where did you get the license plate bracket and rear lights? thanks

dude awesome build! I am going to keep my eye out for the cage cover material you have there!

post trail photos! this should be a nice build for you !

Very nice looking rig!! What are you thinking for wheels and tires?

I kinda like the SSD D-Hole wheels in silver. I think they look nice and I kinda already have an SSD theme going so I may just run with it. I really like the new Proline BFG KR2 tires. Not sure how they perform but they look awesome.

Did a little bit of work on the deadbolt today. I added wire branch guards and a (slightly too large) head for my driver. I did do a bit of research and math though, and if we assume the Deadbolt is modeled after an early Ford Bronco, then according the measurements it is actually closer to 1/7 scale. My driver is 1/6 so he is actually not that far off.
I hope you got some crawling in today! Have a great night.

Saw your pics on Instagram. Nice to see your thread on RCC, as well! The Deadbolt was my first tiny truck, too, and was great for moving into this side of the hobby. Although my Deadbolt turned into a Jeep Wrangler, I still have the Deadbolt body and plan to reuse it some fashion, either on a Wraith or another SCX10. I like what you've done with yours, though!

Thanks man! I appreciate that. Can't wait to see what you do with yours.

I actually stole some parts of this for a different deadbolt body and am gonna do a bit of a re-build on this one very soon. Just some minor changes.

Alright guys. Time for an update. I have actually had 2 Deadbolt bodies for awhile and I wasn't sure exactly what to do with the second one. Then King of the Hammers got me all excited and I decided to build a racing style Deadbolt. I stole some of the parts off of my black body and I built this. I should have done a more complete build thread but I did it all pretty fast.

I am actually excited though because I am going to re-build the black 'Overland Expedition' deadbolt from the ground up and use this thread to track its progress. I am going with a similar theme but I am going to do some things pretty different.

I have a couple more little things planned for this red one as well so I will update you on this one too.

This thread has kinda become a tale of two deadbolts.
