My big fat JK build - help me choose some tires!

Re: My big fat JK build

It won't, they just raise the COG. Unless you're using for shorter shocks, or using them mounted sideways for more mounting locations.

Even factory sits a tad high, and the drive line angles are steep when 100% stock, unless you've got longer upper links the lift kits will bind up the driveshafts with stock length shocks.
absolutely correct. i do indeed have longer uppers. the lift kit will be used more for different shock mounting positions more then raising the truck. it will raise it maybe 5-10mm so i can get full up/down travel out of the proline shocks without rubbing the body with bigger tires.

small update on the build. this week yeilded some more goodies. mail man has been good to me :)

quick update for you all while i wait for my axle upgrades to come in so i can put the truck back to roller status.

tires came in yesterday so spent a good part of the night on cleaning tires and assembly of the LockedUp RC beadlock wheels. i am blown away by these wheels. alot of time to get them togethr but worth every minute!

using Crawler innovations dual stage foams

a tiny bit of fab work was done also.
picked up a maddogRC 1" light bar and winch mount.
still being a bit of a newbie. i didnt notice until package arrived that the mount was intended for use with the 3racing winch. after contacting Maddog they told me they didnt have a direct bolt up for the light bar and my RC4WD winch.

some metal and a dremel quickly fixed my small problem

Very nice build, It's gong to be hard to see the first few scratches on the truck lol.

i might shed a small tear the first time the rock slides hit lol

thats the biggest reason i chose to stay with plastic housings and not some vp currries or ax10 housings...just couldnt handle seeing them get abused

I also didn't put curries on mine because one I don't want to break the bank and two they would get abused.

work has been kicking my butt. havent had much time the last week to do much. i did have a bit of time to do this.

Those wheels look sick (well the truck in general is awesome) and inspired me to plan to get a set. Question I have a scx power wagon with vanquish stage 1. Do I get the slw or 8l for the hubs?

ty! the locked up wheels are very nice. i chose the slw wheels as im running the vp hubs.

i have most of the running electronics wired up. just waiting for my traxxas receiver box to get here today to finish. while i waited i started trimming out the front grill for the dinky radiator/light kit. after all the holes are made i will sand them down and plan to hit the front grill with some black plastidip.

will update this weekend as i hope to have it out on some trails for its first test run before the G6 at Flast Nasty next weekend

my bumpers should be here just in time to finish off the truck before it gets "g6 certified" (if it doesnt explode on me in the process lol)

got the running electronics installed and took the truck for a little shake down before this weekends G6 at Flat Nasty.
truck did great...until the new HH motor took a dive in the creek and shot craps. i have 2 new 13t on the way to make sure this doesnt happen at the event.

have never had a problem with Holmes motors..especially not a new one with less then 30 mins run time on it. going to send it in to see what the dammage is.

still have to wire in my winch controller and some head lights. i ordered the Knight Customs Angry eyes jeep grill but it will not make it here in time but i need me some lights for the night stage.

i did get the two front light bars hard wired in will add the rest when they get here.

wish me luck at the G6!! as long as i finish, ill be happy!

pic reminded me i still have to finish the grill beforw then lol
