I got the big Jerp out of its bag for the first time in over a year, there's a New Years Day trail ride at a local State Park that is always a lot of fun. No rules, no classes, no scale points, no BS- just run what 'ya brung and have fun ! The way it used to be.

On to my memory slip.. I dumped out the bag of lipos, one was puffed to the point of being scary, the other handful looked ok. I usually run some 2200 3S in the Jerp. I grab the charger and the Hyperion external charger and set about to do some proper charging. Then it hit me- how the hell do I set up this balancer? Its been probably 1.5 years, maybe longer, since I've charged any batteries. I used to have a set of instructions but they're no where to be found.

5 minutes on the old gargler and I find the Hyperion webz site. Apparently this budget friendly external balancer is still made and sold. A simple PDF download then a "print" command to the brother printer got me the info that I needed. A battery is in a Lipo bag being charged in the bathtub as I type this. ( just in case it explodes from being so damn old and being in a state of discharge for so long)

Anyone else forget some basic RC skills if you haven't used them in a while?

Oh yes, big time, been so long since I played I'm afraid I've forgotten most of it. Radio programming/changing models on my futaba 3pk especially..the battery thing and binding, I guess easy enough to look up but at one time all this was a second language to me.
I stopped playing when my eyesight got real bad, couldn't build or compete/play. I have had both eyes fixed but just never got back into the swing of it.

I'll confess to somewhat dreading Radio & ESC setup, not only has it been ages, but it's more complex by far.

Not too worried about the HobbyWing 1080 ESC with its cool programming box, but the FlySky radio for that rig and then the Futaba 3PV/Mamba Monster X/Mamba X setups for the Bomber(s), well - a little anxiety!

I'm 53, and I forget what upgrade parts I've gathered for the Bomber, but it's been 18 months of ordering - maybe understandable?

A period of self-medication 30yrs ago doesn't help - I think by some state laws I'm technically considered insane and could be commited...

;-):shock::twisted::oops::roll:

"thumbsup"

Oh man, you all ain't the only ones losing your minds. For me, it's touch and go, a lot of extracurricular activities as a young healthy "normal male.:lmao: So every year it gets worse, but I'll remember the most useless shit...
Welcome to the "brain train" that's heading out of town, and to never return.:lmao:

Sadly I'm visiting Duhs-ville more and more often these days. Isn't just the RC stuff. On the plus side though... watching movies multiple times has become much more enjoyable since I can't remember what the hell happened!

Thats pretty much like we always ride, that thing with gates and rules and what not are a pretty new option for us.
While we have started to do that a bit, i still prefer the get out there and fine a place you car can not traverse and then just do it anyway.

I prefer the little class where things get harder faster, as after all in little flat Denmark it is hard if not impossible to find a place that will challenge a large 2.2 rig or god forbid a crawler.

That being said i would like id some one made a nice set of portal axles for my SCX 10 II, i think that would make the <100 mm tires more easy to select for a outing.
Strongly hoping traxxas have started a portal trend with the trx4.

I still reference my manual every time I have to charge an NiMH. There seems to be just enough time between every time I use it for me to forget how to...

I find going out for a photo shoot and dialing my Dslr off AUTO i am back to square one, and have to finger the camera for a little while to recall what button short cut to press to do this or that.

I am also not young, and thru life i have taken in a lot of stuff that's not good for brain matter or the body as a whole, this being both recreational and work related.

Actually i am pretty freaked i have not gotten some form of cancer yet, some of the things i have been exposed to are pretty nasty with stuff like asbestos and epoxy being some of the pretty mundane things.
Other having a boiling temperature around 10 degrees, and with warning sheets that just scream DANGER in any way.

But its still my back that's the main discomfort for me.
When it come down to the memory part of my brain i have no / little control over it, its the most weird things it decide to store, and the only thing i can say for sure is it seem to have a thing for languages.

I have vivid memories going back to when i was like 5 years old, but i cant for the life of me remember what i did last Tuesday.
