There was a thread a few days ago that disappeared that I was going to post this on but I can't find it so here you go. I absolutely love this thing, IF Steel Delux 29er ss frame, Rigid Vicious Cycles fork, King hs, Avid Juicy Ultimate brakes, Industry Nine wheels converted to tubeless, bla bla bla.

Hard to see but it has some amazing ghost flames

i dont get it... no suspension, single speed, i though mountain bike technology was going the other direction.

It's just another niche - these guys like to keep it simple. (think "extreme XC - that's how I see these SS guys. A serious, dedicated single-speeder is just gonna whup your arse on the climbs, guaranteed.)

Now I used to be on the opposite end of the scale, but I can still appreciate a finely crafted bicycle. That is a sweet looking steed.

What happened to that other thread we had going???

It turned into a pissing match so the member who started decided to delete it...

and you have the right idea, riding a single speed is only going to make you a better rider, and climb so much better.

and climb so much better

Unless you get off and push, you have no choice but to stand on it. Full-on, WFO, off of the saddle style. I've seen guys out in Utah ridin' these bikes, the serious ones who dedicate themselves to single gear are frickin' animals.

Nah, it isn't that bad really. I ride singlespeed (although I ***** out at the beginning of the season on a geared rig to keep my knees together). The gearing works out to be roughly 2:1. I have mine geared 34:18 which is a little lower than some, but then again, I ride 26. It is kind of like pedaling in the middle ring up front, and 3-4 from the bottom in the back.

The wife just converted to the niner segment. She bought a Kona Kula 2-9, and absolutely loves it. Nice rig, and congrats on getting a sweet IF frame. The I-9 wheelset is nothing to sniff at either ;-)

It kind of takes me back to BMX days with your buddies hauling a$$ around creek beds and hills going as fast as you can.

I like it much better than the standard geared bike.

X2, thank you, Rizzo, for turning me on to them. It's all I ride now. My wife even wanted one so, I gave her my GT and bought a Redline...
