Ill be headed down that way on May 30th and should be in Roseville on Sat the 31st There is a possibility that I will be leaving on the 29th wich would put me in there on Friday the 30th. Either way I will be down there by that weekend. Trikster said he is going to try and put something together like a GTG or something with the dates I gave him. So when I here something Ill let you know. I had to give him specific dates of when I could be available because I am actualy going to be up in Redding the second week Im down there so my time is kinda limited but if we can work out something Im totaly game!"thumbsup"

Hey Shawn, you all ready for Montana?

:shock:hey there buddy! You got there all safe and stuffs I see. And uhh about the ready for montana thing..............dont ask:lol: Ive just been very busy with the move and stuff. Now Im on Day shaft so its hard to get some shop time in but ya Ill be ready! Im going to try and go over to your place tomarrow and get your stuff so I can have it ready to go. Are you at 50 or 6. you know what Im asking! I was going to look up your email over there but didnt know which place you were in.

What does that thing weight all together?

It looks heavy for the tlt axles.

15 lbs , TLT axles are holding up just fine! I built them to handle the weight. I beat the hell out of this thing for an entire day, not to mention all the testing I put it through. On comp day I broke 1 axle (front left) Sheered at the ball at the very end of the day when we were screwing around. Id say thats pretty good. That battery was going dead anyway.

Now thats with a 55t motor in it, I just through a 27t in it. Lots more wheal speed:twisted: So I just placed an order for 2 sets of extra TLT inner axles:lol: ya know just to have on hand in case.;-)

Cool, glad to see that you will have her back togther and all ready for Montana. I will let the wife know to expect you the next few days. I am over at site 50. Not too bad so far and a little better than last summer. Chat with you soon.

Winch #2

Here are the pics from the second winch I just completed. This is the winch I will be running At the MT scale Nats. It has close to six feet of nylone Parachute cord on it all in a nice small package. I will be building a winch # 3 but that will have to wait untill I get settled in Germany also the fairlead and mounting plate are not installed on these pics. Its an all steel planitary gear box and motor combo and it has 2527in-oz of torque so its extreamly strong.

WoW"thumbsup". I can't wait to see that hydraulic steering done. I'll be checking in on this thread every so often. Very nice work Shawn. Wow!!!

I have said it a # of times--WOWZERS. Wish I could make it to the Montana nat's this year...

Change To The Winch Esc Wiring

On page 19 of this thread I posted up how to use an XPS speed control for a winch controler. My appologies to those who may have tried it and had no luck. Somehow I missed something between the testing and install and did something different when I wired it into the truck.

Durring the MT Scale comp I was having problems getting my winch to work, I knew it was a problem with the winch ESC but was having a problem figuring it out so thankfully there was help. The Tekin guys were there all weekend and I was thankfully able to ask for thier help. If you ever get a chance to meet and talk with these people, they are great!!! Dont pass up the chance to talk with them! I asked them about the problem I was having and without even showing them what it was doing, through thier engineering backgrounds they had it figured out in just a few minutes."thumbsup" Extreamly smart guys!

I previously posted on page 19 that when you use an ESC to power your winch you needed to pull the black and red or "power wires" from the receiver plug and use only the signal wire. I am now telling you to pull only the + positive power wire!!!! weather it be brown, red, blue ect, ect the possitive power wire must be pulled from the receiver plug. Leave the - negative or ground wire in the plug as well as the signal wire. Leaving these two wires in the plug alows the ESC to see a full signal alowing full proportional control in forward and reverse. If you dont leave the ground and signal wire in the plug to the receiver the ESC times out and will not run untill you turn the power off and reset it and then it will time out again. Basicaly fail safing itself. I now have my winch ESC wired up this way since Sat at the MT scale event and it works flawlessly!!!

Again I appologise to those who tried my methode and had no luck, like I said I made a mistake at some point durring the install after testing.

Also I want to thank the TEKIN guys again!! You guys Rock~!"thumbsup"

Check page 19 again if you are interested, everything I changed is in CAPS!

Excellant glad to hear she's working good for ya now.i understand cory didnt have much luck testing my winch[sucks i was hoping for some good feedback]

im sure he will need to run it through an esc to get the voltage up.Ill shoot ya a call when i get caught up on all my projects, been busy building 1:1 scale 4x4's.

Just bought a rotary for the mill, cant waite to find the time to play with it.

how does the 2 speed tranny work? Im in process of similar build any feedback would be awesome.

Its a 2 speed 12volt Dewalt drill trans, all steel planitary gears. Very heavy! The Pinion is a Robinson Racing Mod .06 metric 16 tooth. There is a lever that moves back and forth moving a ring gear back and forth switching the gears from high to low. Its realy very simple just not easy to adapt to RC use.

Right i've got that all planned out, I'm more wondering, how well the truck actually drives in the two gears. What the low gear is like and what the high gear is like. IE: what kind of speeds.
