My Wraith Build

If you want to keep the hood from pin scratches, mount some 4mm setscrews instead, use the proline caps.

My son wanted to put a spare tire on the back of his Wraith because his older brother has one on his Bomber and he thought it looked cool .
I tried explaining this will have a negative impact on performance but he don't care :ror:

After contemplating how to do this, I found that the rear tire carrier for the Bomber actually fits the DMG cage quite nicely.

Here is the Axial Bomber spare from part # AX31320

Used a bunch of zip ties to secure it in place. The Axial piece follows the lines of the cage perfectly.

Used 3x20mm Cap screw with a 3mm washer to hold it down. It's pretty secure and does not wiggle around "thumbsup"

Not Bad

Thanks Mike.

I'm going to try it this way for bit until this body gets destroyed. I like how the hood prop up like a real Jeep.

Ok, enough build talk!

My oldest son and I went out yesterday for a quick trail run. I was really excited to see how it will perform with the new mods.

We went to a trail that was mostly for crawling. No real major speed runs except I did get play around a little at full throttle in some open areas.

But for crawling, I felt like the performed better than before. The wider stance really helped with it's side hilling. It did get hung up a bit more with the lower body, but a bit of wheel speed powered through mostly.

Had a couple deep water submersion's at times on both rigs, and the Waterproof electronics were truly that. No issues.

A successful run since we didn't break anything, which is a first, but both of these rigs are now pretty well modified to withstand some abuse.

All in all, very pleased with the upgrades "thumbsup"

But anyway, here are some trail pics.

Stumbled upon this cool cave, but it was littered with spider webs, so we...actually, I decided not to go in further :ror:

Side hills very well with the wider stance.

So here is a question for the suspension gurus out there.

When I’m going full throttle on this rig, I’m guessing around low 20s mph, when hitting some dips and ruts, the rear end will bounce around making it hard to control.

How should I tune the rear shocks to help smooth this out?

For the Rear, I’m running Gmade XD Piggyback, 93mm, with the Soft Green Gmade springs.
I have the reservoir adjusted pretty soft already.
25wt Silicone fluid from Team Associated.

I assumed the softer the better.

Any Ideas? Or is this just how solid axles 4link suspension react in these conditions? Scratching my head here.

What a great place to run..... totally jealous !

How many holes in the pistons ? I went one more and 20w to get both sides of the shock soft, but I also have more travel, no bottoming out

Thanks Mike! I think I'm pretty lucky with many different trail options of different types all within 15 min of me."thumbsup"

But I'm running 2 hole piston. Would increasing the holes help absorb these bumps better?
I don't think it's bottoming out when I'm hitting these ruts, but I'm not sure.

I run 3 holes to soften it up. The holes help one part, fluid the other. I'm still finding my way, but I keep trying things, boom or bust !

Thanks Mike,

I'm going to swap in a pair of Traxxas GTRs with 20wt and TA springs and see if it will do better. If not, I'll try the 3 hole and go from there. Thanks for the tip."thumbsup"

Not quite done yet though

Here are the trick parts for GTR's.
The valves work well

Nice! Thank Mike!"thumbsup" Didn't realize those existed for the GTRs. "thumbsup"

I swapped in the GTRs in the rear last night, with 20Wt and Team Associated White "soft" Springs, and they improved the "4' drop" test, seemed to absorb the drop better, but have not had it out yet. That's with the 2 hole.

Haven't had a chance to run it yet, but will report back when I do "thumbsup"
