We've added a 2.2" TrailReady HD SLW "V2" design to replicate the larger 20" 1:1 wheels.
This design has a more open spoke feel and we think it looks great!
We first made the double external bead locks to mate with the original AX10 and SCX10 bead locks.
So this is just a continuation of that since the design is established in our ecosystem.
The only disadvantage to the internal style I can think of is your hardware has to work harder clamping 2 beads at once.
I'm not sure if anyone has actually requested an internal style from us in 2.2".
Portals are why most people want the internal style. Since they clear like a 1.9 Internal I'm not sure there is a need for 2.2 internal?

That's the beauty of our Easy Mount system.
Only 6 screws actually hold the outer bead lock ring on. So you aren't having take every screw out when you make a change:
Having said that, I will add 2.2 Internals to "the list" of project considerations.
I'm not against making them or anything.
We just didn't have any prior requests so it has not been on our radar.

I play around with my hubs a bit depending on course type. Sometimes I narrow my rig up if there isn't gonna be much sidehill. That added clearance would be nice. Plus they look better.
I think we're gonna start seeing some 4.75" tall 2.2s here soon so the 2.2 market should start growing.
