New Axial 17mm hex set?

So I have the RTR Xl, I ordered the Axial 17mm hex set so I wouldn't have to use the crappy stock nuts.

I go to put them on and the bar that holds the nut to the axle is larger in diameter than the stock aluminum hex.

So the pin won't fit into the hole on the shaft.

I guess I could just drill everything out. But why would Axial make them two different sizes like that? Also the new kit comes with grub screws, the hex bolts aren't even threaded.. Why grub screws, is this a manufacturing defect or a wtf moment? Maybe it's Friday and I just need a beer.

Yup! You need a beer.

The RTR and Kit axles are different IIRC. Just give it a little grinding for the Pin to fit. The Grub screw to hold the pin has been around for a while with great success. No need to fix it if it aint broke.

Thanks for clarifying on size difference. My point about the grub screw is that it's useless in my kit, being that nothing is threaded. There is nothing the grub screw can be used for so why include it?

I gotcha now. It was acting as 2 items. (1) as a Pin and (2) as a set screw.

I'm sure you know but normally the pin is installed on the shaft, then the Hex slides onto the pin and then finally the set screw holds it all together.

Gomiband - do you have package photos or part numbers please? Are there more pieces that you need?

Thank you.

I ordered ax31255, that part doesn't work with the stock axles. So correct me if I'm wrong kit owners, I need to purchase ax31259 and ax31260 for it to work?

Will ax31259 stubs just attach to the front stock axle bars, or do I need another part?

Sorry I'm not seeing the kit manual anywhere.. The link on the link you posted is broken on the axial site.

You need the following to convert:

AX31259 x1 (package of two) - These are the new stub shafts for the front axles, re-use your UV Joint Coupler (black metal barrel w/ set screw)
AX31260 x1 (package of two) - These are the new rear axles
AX31255 x2 (need one pack for each axle) - New 17mm hex hubs

The front axles are the same on each kit.

Thanks, all ordered.
