New Quicksand 8274 Winches

Got it, and thanks.

Is everything on schedule? Thanks I'm just eagerly waiting :)

J-bird

Not too far off... makin' gear cases right now, will be able to get back at assembly when they're done. I'll try and get a bunch together this next month. Will post up progress as I start shipping again.

boy, ill be so stoked when i finally get mine. servo winch will have to suffice but the Wreep is definitely getting the QS treatment once mine is ready!!

Sorry I wasn't farther along Kila... would liked to have been able to send you a winch for your Wreep. Good luck at the G6 next weekend though."thumbsup"

And thanks for posting the video nissan driver... I know you've been hammering your winch pretty hard, and I'm glad it's working well for you. I'll be in touch with you soon about the other part you wanted.

Where do I stand currently? I asked a month ago and asked about a month out yet. Your reply about right. Just wondering, LMK thanks.

That's great.. That just means that my # is getting closer by the day lol.. I can't wait I was thinking if you used a snatch block or two just how strong that sucker would be..

Yes, I did say that was about right.... turns out I was wrong.... sorry. I told someone in the electronics thread a bit ago, that I was running about two weeks behind. It's probably closer to three. I apologize for the false hope... in the future I'll try and give a better estimate. I guess I was thinking of a best case scenario .....which never seems to happen.
Assembly has finally started again though, after some down time from lack of parts. Got 5 going together now and ordered 20 more servos today. As always... I can't make promises, but I hope I'll be able to get to yours... and about 50 others this month.... most likely impossible.... but I'll try.

I haven't been a total slacker though... just finished running a nice big batch of gear cases.
(see bottom of post... still can't figure out how to put these photos where I want them...)

You're welcome halfcab... and thanks very much for the compliments. We really had fun with the detail on these... as for power... hats of to Hitec.

I guess it helps when you have a friend in the front of the list who trades places with you....

If my calculations are right J-bird..... Yours will be # 20 out of the servos I ordered today. As for a couple snatch blocks.... I hope you never find yourself that stuck.;-)

Neil, were you going to change up the design a little to be able to mount the fair lead directly to the winch?

i'm wondering this myself. i sent an email awhile back about it. would love to have one before i start my next c3 build.

Thanks guys... and I'll keep pluggin' away. Hobby shop called today and servos are already here. Will try and pick 'em up tomorrow and start dismantling this weekend.

do you put my name on your list for this batch:shock:...please "thumbsup"

Yep... I have not passed you by, your on the list and should be hearing from me this month."thumbsup"

Are any of those mine?

Yes, one of those is yours... in fact I have enough cases and a few of the other parts, to fill all the orders I currently have.... and then some.

Yes.... I actually have it done, and about 100 of them made. I know some of you have said you'd like one already, I have just been kind of side tracked. So sorry for making some of you repeat yourselves, but anyone that already has a winch and would like the new drum support (or the new drum with anchor screw for that matter) ...please let me know. All winches shipped from this point on, will have this new side support.
(unless you specifically request the original.... there are a few left)

Drum support... $20 shipped
Drum (or spool) $15 shipped

Here's the winch with the new mod for bolting on the fairlead...

Hey, I have a first run QS from MSD. Have you improved the method of attaching the line? On the originals, there was a flat spot on the drum that Ben said to glue the line to. Seems rinky dink for such a nice & strong winch.

Anyway, please put me on the list, I'd like another.

lol....new design looks really nice "thumbsup"

Thanks David, I should have your drum supports in the mail Monday or Tuesday... so I would think they'll arrive in time for your comp.

Looks like i bettter get my truck built whooooo hooooo

Don't work too fast... you'll make me look bad.

Thanks DISTURBIN' tha PEACE... I'll put you down for one.

As for line attachment on the first run winches... you're right, that was a bit sub-standard I'll admit. At the time, I wasn't quite sure what to do. I did finally decide on something a little better, which I hope works out for people. The new drums have a grove on one end that you run the line through, and then anchor with a set screw that threads in the end of the drum.

This isn't the best pic, but it kind of shows what I'm talking about...
