Alright, I was just given my first crawler. It's a venom creeper. It was given to me somewhat built. I'm attempting to finish it up on a budget(just like everyone else, haha)

I realize the following is a dumb question. But since this is my first time building anything RC, humor me please.

Here is what I have. What all do I need? and where is the best place to get it? (excluded from the pictures, I have the battery holder and body)

okay first things first. welcome to the world of the creeper

things u need:
1. a very high torque servo. something like a hitec 7955tg
2. a cc bec that will be wired in to give power straight to the servo to give it full power (look at the rmdw ts & ts for a wiring diagram)
3. a good esc (i use a novak rooster crawler esc)
4. a 540 electric motor (if u buy the rooster crawler esc see if u can get a esc and motor combo)
5. a battery, u can go with a bigger nimh or nich battery. or u can get a lipo
6. a charger that will acct a nimh and nich battery. if lipo one that will acct a lipo battery
things needed for a lipo:
1. lipo safty charge bag
2. a novak 3 cell cutoff if u us a esc that cant acct a 3cell lipo

things to:
1. put your shocks on the top hole on the chassis
2. raise and seperate the rear links
3. DO NOT use the stock battery tray
4. upgrade ur driveshafts
5. make or buy a plate to mount on the front axle to mount the servo and the battery on
6. weight the front wheels
7. READ THOUGHT THE RMDW T's & T's A COUPLE OF TIMES TO UNDERSTAND IT FULLY AND START TO DO THE MODS

hope this helps and also read the "on the creeper wagon" and maybe some other peoples biuld threads. hope this help "thumbsup"

Perfect! Thank you! Best places to find the best deals on parts?

Also, I've realized that I've got a lot of tech slang to learn on here. I understood about 50% of that post. Sooooo much to learn. Hahaha

yea, i was in that spot before, but after reading it a couple of times and looking at the pictures at the bottom and u start to understand it. the best place to go for parts would either be towerhobbies.com or go to ckrccrawlers.com. at ckrc u can get a lot of aluminum replacements like c hubs and knoukles. and they also have a lot of parts that are mostly just meant for crawlers.

Nice. I'll check those out tonight.

I'll catch on quickly. I've just never messed with building these before. I've just driven them. Haha

The Savox SC-1258TG is ok to start but its weak for crawling since it only puts out 166 in-oz of torque and you will need over 300oz to really do any crawling...The CC BEC is factory default programmed at 5.1 vdc and will need to be programmed to the max VDC that the servo can take which is 6vdc...youll need a Castle Creations Castle Link for programming it or have your local hobby store do it.

The 6cell battery you got is fine to start again but its very heavy compared to the Lipo packs the rest of us use...you can split the battery into saddle packs and mount the 3x3 saddle on the front axle...putting the 6cell on the stock battery tray will make the creeper very top heavy and want to roll over easily. Do a search in the electronics forum on the main page for "saddle packs" use the quotation marks too. For future referrence you could have got lipo packs and a lipo charger for almost the same money through a different site like Valuehobby.com.

The Rooster Crawler/55t combo is a good choice...I run the same esc and I run an Integy 55t motor with a 19 tooth pinion...good wheel speed and gobs of torque.

If you plan to run the stock Ridgeline tires for a while then "sipe" them...remove all of the smaller lugs on the tires...do a google search for "flush cut pliers" they are really good for cutting lugs off with less chance of cutting the tire carcass.

Luckily none of the above has been ordered yet. Just a sample. Feel free to post links for samples of what I should get in comparison to what is listed.

Thanks again for all the help guys! At this rate I'll be flinging pebbles with the rest of Yall in no time. Haha

Ill post up what Id get after I get home from work this afternoon.

BTW...smart move posting up your proposed purchase then getting opinions first....

Yea, I don't really like to buy stuff twice. Haha.

Is there not a used classifieds section on here? Maybe I missed it?

At the top of every forum main page is a link to RCC rules..

in those rules it states that you have to be a member for 30 days and have at least 30 post...genuine, good posts...not 30 "nice rig" posts either. $20 gets you a Green Member star and will gain you access quicker.

Read the forum Site RUles.....

Don't forget to pick up a radio system as well... (I didn't see one listed onyou 'shopping cart') Otherwise, Have Fun! "thumbsup"

Eh, reading the rules is overrated. Lol most of this is done from my phone, so I haven't really "explored" much.

And yea, a radio might help...

Get atleast 4 vvvvv

80mm links to brace your chassis it's gonna be necessary to prevent flexing!!welcome to the creeper circle !Rc4wd sells them !!
