After a ten year hiatus I have gotten back into RC cars. I just picked up the Venom Creeper and its DIG unit. I have been trying to decide between the Venom Pro ESC 120A and Crawler Motor, or the Novak Goat 3S and 21 turn motor. Does anyone have experience with either of these two set ups? I prefer brushless as I have found it to be a great improvement over the brushed systems for aircraft use and believe it should also be an improvement in for RC cars. I don't plan on competing with the Creeper, just have some old fashioned fun. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Creeper Motor/ESC

After doing some research it appears many others believe the same thing with regard to the brushless systems. It seems that there is an advantage to brushed systems at low speeds. Further research revealed that many Creeper builders are using the Novak Rooster/55T combo. How well does this work? The only negative I have heard is that the ESC is not programmable and is limited to 2C Lipos. Novak also has a M2/55T combo. This ESC is programmable and can run up to 4S lipos. Is this benefit worth the extra cost? Does anyone have experience with either? Is the "hill hold" brake on these strong enough to keep the model from running down an incline due to its weight?

Thanks

I run a Novak Rooster Crawler on 3s with no problems all you would need is the novak smart stop lipo cutoff for 3s or spend the money on a CC Mamba Max pro.

i run a rooster and a 35t tekin on 2s on a 17t pinion im going to get a 3s and a smart stop so it runns good i ran a 55t but no enough wheel speed on 2s on a 17t pinion is i would go for a 35t on 2s and 45t on a 3s

Power/ESC for Creeper

Do you believe the Rooster with a 55 motor is comparable to Tekin FXR with a 55? The cost is comparable but I don't think the Rooster is programmable.

Thanks..

it is not but its that good it does not need it really i pulled out of box and it was perfec

Power/ESC for Creeper

Thanks for the help guys....I decided on the Rooster with the 55 from Tower...I will let you know how the build goes..

Thanks..

sensored brushless systems dont "cog" at low speeds, its the sensorless systems that do that. the goat is a sensored system, i know lots of people that run them in crawlers with no low speed issues, and you get all the advantages of having a brushless system over a brushed system
