In January I purchased a Traxxas TQ3 radio for my new Axial RTR because the radio that came with the RTR has lousy slow speed control. My son and I have been using the TQ3 since then without issue. On Sunday we take the truck out to play and out of no where the radio starts giving us troubles.

Turn the radio on then turn the truck on and everything is normal. You can press the trigger to go forward and when you let off the trigger the truck will keep moving forwards at various speeds. it will not stop unless you trigger the throtle backwards, or turn the radio off.

I called Traxxas but they are not interested. Said I could pay to have it fixed if I wanted. This radio has not been dropped, wet, or abused in any way. The truck seams to work fine as we have resorted back to using the Axial radio that came with the truck.

I can not afford to spend $50 on a new radio every 2 months. We are new to this hobby and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You in advance!!!

X2 on the throttle trim. Its easy to bump the knob on a TQ3 and not even notice untill it acts crazy. Did you change the trigger from 50/50 without restting the ESC?

We did put new batteries in the radio and charged the truck hoping that would be the cure, but no luck. Throttle trim has been checked, and we also tried switching from 50-50 to 70-30. it did not seem as bad on 70-30 but was still moving on it's own.

After further inspection I see there are one maybe two holes in the back side of the base that have screw driver slots in them, like for adjustment.
I am not referring to the screws that hold the body halves together, these are in there quite deep and I can see the plastic slot if you hold it just right to see down in there. Anyone know what they are for? I hate to go butchering this thing all up but at this point it doesn’t work anyway.

the hole in the back is for adjusting the trim for the 3rd channel of the remote. there is 2 nobs next to the "steering wheel" on marked steering trim and the other marked throttle trim, try playing around with the throttle trim and see what happenes.

update

This morning I put batteries back in the TQ3 and go outside to do some more experimenting. Set throttle and steering trim to center and turn on the radio, then turn on the truck. Squeeze the throttle and let off and the truck takes off on its own.

Then I start messing with the throttle trim. At first I have either uncontrolled forward movement and no reverse or uncontrolled reverse and no forward. Some more adjusting and I have forward or reverse but no stop. Finally I get to where it has forward, reverse, and stop but when it is stopped you can hear the ESC powering up even though the trigger is in the neutral position, plus my throttle trim is cranked way over to one side.

It would appear something in the throttle may have come loose. Anyone have any experience fixing these things.
