Been kicking around getting another truck, either SCX10.2, TRX4 (don't know that I want to deal with the portal axles tho), or Ascender. Me and my 3 kids all have trucks and have plenty of NIMH batteries / charger, so I've got no interest in switching over to Lipo's, or even dealing with the handling they require, really.

Can the Ascender be modded to handle a full size NIMH pack?

Page 6 of the user manual says 6-7 cell NiMH battery compatible: http://www.vaterrarc.com/ProdInfo/Files/VTR03090-Manual-MULTI.pdf
Not sure how it would fit though, the tray floats over the front axle and is configured for a 'shorty' or 'compact' battery pack - max length 100mm.
(Edit: yes, there are mods to accommodate a full size pack)

For $40 you can get a 4000mah 2s lipo 'REACTION' battery and the chargers are about the same. Have yet to run mine out on any crawl session. [shrug]

It is a crawler though, on 2s it's about walking speed if you want to trail-walk it.
