I got the rear currie together, I'm waiting on my spool so I can put the front one together. There instructions are so vague, and I got two instructions for putting together the rear axle??!!

i dig the curries, but my experience with the them wasnt fun.

some of us had to shave down pinion bearings to make a set of $300 axle cases functional, with no decent response on owning up to the mistake from vp on making it right with replacement center sections, just advice on how to properly sand a bearing down.... thats not cool.

Friday! Woo!

Going to try to get my chassis into paint tonight.. Then I'm going to take my time assembling it, getting it all together real nice. Then my body will get a Mega Fattie paint job on Wednesday.. I picked out a color, should look dope!

Then, I'll be ready to get down on Sunday if you guys are up for a GTG, or the week after, don't matter. But then after that, It's time to park the truck and get planning/figuring for the trip.

I won't be able to gtg Sunday. As I will be tending to the smoker!

Two kinds of pork butt. One traditional BBQ style and one hacienda style with a spicy lime chipotle rub.

You all are invited. Pm me for directions. If interested.

Probably start around 4.

I had to dremel some material off the locating tabs for the spool and ring gear bearings to fit in. I didn't have a problem with a pinion bearing?

As I'm putting the front axle together, Rob from VP called me to tell me the parts in an order I just placed don't work together... That's weird, cause I went on THEIR site and looked up the Titanium link kit and it says what Chub and Knuckles to get for it to work. Here is what there site says...

And here's what I ordered...

Looks like I ordered the parts they say are required to me.

Anyway, while I had him on the phone, I told him about the problems with the Currie axle and he told me he has never heard of any problems with them. Kinda funny how I know more about his parts then he does. Several people on here have had problems, it's not a fluke.

GET WITH THE PROGRAM VP!

Rob then tells me the correct knuckles I need are more money so he will send me a PayPal invoice for the difference. Ehhh....

I have never bought any VP parts until about a week ago, and I don't see anymore in the near future.

Blah!!!!!!!!

SCRC has a comp tomorrow at Busse if anyone is interested in swinging by. If I have any of my scalers together by tonight I'm gonna bring them.

How much better do the curries perform over just a set of ar60 plastic housings with beef tubes and all metal internals ?

lol, never heard of the issue? its been posted... in the currie thread in the vp section.

same issue, 2 diff ways to free it up.

1.
you can either grind down those tabs (which i wasnt keen on doing at the time, but will the next time i open up those axles).

2.
you can sand a little bit off the inside pinion bearing.

i dont think there is any measurable performance advantage, they are tougher just simply because they are all alloy.

And so the problems continue...

Got my TH back together after installing the GCM front shock mound and rear upper link mount. Took it outside to test it out... Woooo, yeaaaaa, yipppeeee!!!!!

....SH!T! F*CK!! NOOOOO!! As smoke poors out of the hood after 3 min of run time.

F*ck RC for the rest of the day. I'm going outside with the metal detector, it won't start on fire.

Let's see what I can break/burn up at the comp tomorrow.

what was the smoke from?

I just can't win! I'm so frustrated its almost funny. Go outside and start detecting, it starts raining.

Jason, the smoke was from the motor I think. I hope. Esc was not hot, and still functioned, but the motor would not respond to any input I made with the throttle.

P.S. I did find a dime in the short couple minutes I was detecting. Nothing of age tho, 1965.
