Nitro crawler

Skinny from XRC built one that was pretty cool. He worked out the brake issues with a special throttle linkage setup. I'll try to find some info right now

Found a video of it:

Anyone use worm-drive axles with 4-cycle nitro power? it seems to me that if one used a planetary gear reduction transmission a usable speed range could be achieved, the worm-drive axles would mitigate braking issues, the 4-cycle could even be had with a water jacket... reverse gear might be a little more difficult though, perhaps a Revo 3.3 nitro trans?

Great idea, you should try it. "thumbsup"

I don't know if Skinny (Brian Skinner) built that 4-stroke. I believe it was the work of Dave Palacios (I believe he's on this forum or used to be). For better or for worse, I believe he also came up with the original PTI Goliath concept.

While that 'mog can't crawl, I'll give credit where credit is due and say it's pretty cool. I don't know why someone would go through that much work and not change the tires unless they wanted it to look as factory as possible.

My personal opinion is the video is a great answer to the nitro crawler question. Yes, you can build one...and this is how it will perform.
