Here's the X that I built for a buddy:

- NN Chassis w/ custom links
- X-Crawler axles w/ C's ground for clearance
- 2 Hitech HS-5955tg servos
- 2 55 turn Integy motors
- 12 4200mah cells under the axles
- Traxxas big bore shocks
- RC4WD clod steering blocks machined to fit
- Clod outer shafts w/ 12mm hexes
- 12mm to 17mm spacer adapters
- Axial 40 series wheels, narrowed
- Moab XL's
- 2 Rooster Crawler ESC's
- Spektrum DX6i tx.

- 17" wheelbase & 16" track width.

Nice rig. I like your battery setup. I am also planning on ditching the stock chassis and building a tuber. I have a body ariving this week for skins, then i need to make a trip to the welding supply store and get some stainless mig wire. Shocks for mock up are also ariving this week, last ones didnt provide enough travel. Hopefully mine will be shaping up here soon. the Moab tires wont fit the stock X-Crawler wheels will they?

I would like to see some pics of what you did to make the clod stuff fit. I have a x crawler and have done a ton of stuff to it and have now ended up making it a pimp cane with Integy 35t motors on it and I am working on the 40 series wheels with Moab XL G8 tires just waiting on parts but so far I like it better than anything else I have tried.

We had to shave about 10 thousandths off of the top & bottom of the RC4wd steering knuckles so that they'd fit between the X's bearings. Then we had to drill & tap for the M4 bolts.

Here's some pics:

Here's final, comp-ready ride height.

I limited the articulation using fuel line on the shock shafts, but not nearly enough.

Nice, i had wondered how you mounted the batteries like that, looks like a good idea. Is the same amount of batteries mounted on the rear too? How many batteries do you have total? I have been brainstorming how i can rig up some nice, clean and safe battery locations too.

I have since replaced the ESC's with a pair of CC Sidewinders, and the motors with a pair of Holmes Crawlmaster 1000kv Brushless that I had sitting around. I also desoldered the batteries, and kept the cells below the spindles for weight, but went to a pair of 2100mah 3s Lipos for power.

These axles are geared alot lower than the clod axles I used to run. I may eventually go to a set of handwound 35t's.

Oh, and I'm about to weld the gears. Just stripped the 2nd one.
